Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Layoff news?

I typically check this site for, ya know, layoff talk. I haven’t seen that topic in a hot minute. Think we might see some chatter any time soon?

This. Always be on the lookout and keep your resume updated.

I was contracting with these clowns and was let go last week with no warning. Another friend of mine was given a months notice. Thankfully, I had already accepted a position at a much, much better company and I start in a week…. And my friend has an offer, as well. Were both feel very blessed.

Take heed and start looking now if you haven’t already. This is the worst Q1 job market I can ever recall. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

The employee meeting all but guaranteed we there will be layoffs this year. Like another comment in here, Wayne & co are going to see how many leave after the bonus payout, then April/May time frame is when layoffs will be announced, then again towards the end of the year. AML is all but guaranteed to have layoffs, they were forced to over hire due to the consent order work and that is at or very near completion. I know a few ppl in Bank AML and they’re trying to apply to other areas in fear of being laid off later in the year.

This is exactly why employees should not have any loyalty.

I know this sounds harsh, but I am not saying that employees should be vindictive or not take advantage of opportunities their jobs afford them. I am not saying "tear the house down". We all know that companies benefit when WE, the employees are happy and productive. Then they vie to acquire your talents, and YOU choose the best option for yourself.

But I am saying that your loyalty belongs to you. Not to a company, not a manager, a fellow employee (and boy did I witness the "true colors" of some of my coworkers at USAA).

My message is to watch out solely for yourself. You are being paid for services that you provide. If your job is diminished or you believe the contract has been violated, leave. Do not allow yourself to be abused an diminished by jobs that are not according to the agreement you had when you agreed to employment.

So what is your responsibility?

To constantly be seeking better opportunities, either actively or passively.

To constantly be moving yourself into better roles that bring YOU better rewards, by constant self-improvement.

I know this sounds exhausting and unfair. But what is worse is to be at the mercy of a heartless machine that will take you in, su-k you up, lie and belittle you, and then sp-t you out. Imagine the freedom of simply stating "this contract is over, I have a better opportunity, best of luck and ... Good bye."

That's because forced attrition is all the rage now. Make it (relatively) miserable for targeted groups and they will leave...

Rumor/facts
Goal setting will be efficiency heavy across executives and look to hit some big efficiency cost reductions

As they plan the how they will do it they have planned on some big layoff waves in April and Repeat October.
Number will depend on how many people leave once bonus departures happen later this month - 13th-24th.
