Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Do you know anybody who volunteered to be laid off?

How did he or she do it? Did it work?

That is never going to happen again. The problem with offering voluntary lay offs with severance is that they are most likely to he accepted by the people who can most easily get new jobs. In other words, the most useful people quit.

They really can’t take volunteers is there is a termination process to be followed- ie testing, performance rating and tenure. If they did make exceptions, trust me this board would be full of whining sniveling babies more than usual.

I asked before in 2022 but they said they would consider it a self resignation and would not pay me severance. They took the higher paid older folks instead when they did those cuts.

They messed it up too - ended up getting accepted VTOs by a lot of the manager level that actually did work, kept all the Director/VP level that added no value.

They took some volunteers or early retirement volunteers with layoffs like 8 years ago. Not since.
