Thread regarding CDW layoffs

CDW or the hunger games

I’d say currently we are in movie 2. The victors that survived the last round of layoffs in 2023 are called back to fight for their life again. Everyone else is trying their best to stay in line and not pi-s off the capital people (leadership and share holders). Will there be a revolt like in movie 3?

Come on, you don't acquire a bunch of companies and NOT have several waves of layoffs, that's part of the value prop of mergers. Back office jobs have been going to India for decades. Several of my past companies have moved operations to India, APAC, eastern block, etc. I too was top pay band, and I knew it was just a matter of weeks/months post merger. Yes, severance su-ks, but it's more than they HAVE to give. People thinking about joining should take note of how it ends, and be forewarned, you could be next. All that said, I met a LOT of great folks, made a difference, and got paid well while I was there. The important thing is to move quickly to the next thing, things are nasty out there. I've had three iterations of multiple interviews, promises of offer letters, and nothing comes of it. Avoid Linked In, don't put 'open to work', find a good recruiter, and work your network of professional contacts. I called the entire rolodex (yes, I am that old) every month, and got lots of leads. 9 months later, better job, more pay (+$30k), and CDW is in the rear view mirror. Remember, you are not part of a 'family' at CDW, you are part of a professional 'team', and teams are dynamic, people always being traded, down to the minor leagues, or just cut. Su-k it up, and move on, head first, full speed ahead...

“Haven’t heard much about cuts in Canada and UK.”

They’ve been happening in the UK. Not massive lay-offs but all departments affected. No official announcements, just various co-workers leaving.

Yes there are more layoffs already scheduled. I'm one of them April.

I think the layoffs are done. Can’t imagine there’s more to cut after last April, the finance cuts & this past layoff. If there’s more this year it would be a very bad sign for us that are still here. Haven’t heard much about cuts in Canada and UK.

Are they still laying off after the layoffs 2 weeks ago?

Know that they will puff you up and then lay you off with no notice. We had a team leader let go the day before he was leading meetings on a project key to 2024. Let go with no notice, meetings were cancelled, and team was told, “oh, we aren’t doing that project any more.” So what are we doing? No one knows. I suspect the rest of us will be cut soon.

They already closed Lincolnshire in 2023, and cut all of finance to outsource to India!! They hired a new finance VP who became a terminator! Lies, and power trips.cfo is a greedy joke.

Forbes advice columnist once told a reader that she "could be taking a risk by completing the survey truthfully" after the reader revealed that her company had e-mailed her noting that she had yet to complete an employee satisfaction survey.

"I don't mean to make you paranoid, but the e-mail message that said 'You haven't completed your survey yet' certainly gives me pause," the columnist wrote. "Who would trust in the survey's confidentiality once they get a message like that?"

"On top of that and more fundamentally, if a company can't get honest feedback except by promising anonymity to employees, that's a sad statement,"

The severance package is a joke.. 8 weeks of base pay? Our base salary is below minimum wage..
