My COBRA payment was originally quoted as around $1100.00 for 2024. When I went to the web portal to sign up, it was $1400.00.
My spouse is diabetic, one month of his meds (using GoodRx, Cost Plus Dr-gs, manufacturer programs, etc.) would run $2448.00. So I'll be paying for COBRA... I've been selling chunks of stock here and there when the promised severance was delayed or "Oh, sorry - you're not actually qualified for payment until blah, blah, blah."
Guess my new hobby will be watching the TMUS stock price and trying to guess when it's a good stock dump day, lol.
BTW, anyone else weirded out trying to figure out all the $0.0 pay stubs over the last four months?
Unless you have underlying health issues why carry expensive Cobra insurance?
When between employers over the years I just went without coverage.
I'd get a physical including blood work testing before my benefits expired and then wait for my new employers benefits kick to in once I secured new employment with Healthcare.
For me the risk was worth the savings, but it's certainly not recommended for everyone. Consult with your doctors for safety.
This is exactly why lateral moves within a company are always a good idea. Shows continued growth, even if with the same company. Congrats on the new gig!!
Took a while but yes.
The were worried that all my post degree career was with one company, but I explained that they made me promises and then pulled the rug out from under me.
You got a new job? That must be awesome.
