Thread regarding USAA layoffs

So some areas are still three days a week?

I thought it was a company wide thing for four days in office? Hmmm…

Unfortunately for Wayne, he’s not Doc Brown and doesn’t have a Time Machine. He’s trying hard to get the vibe back to pre March 2020 and he’s failing. Sorry Wayne, this isn’t the movies, time travel doesn’t exist in the real world. The only person happy with your reign as CEO, is Bob Davis, because he’s no longer the worst and most hated CEO in company history. I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to be that bad, but Wayne accomplished that in less than 3 years.

As a lot of the comments here show, companies can force people to be in the office but they cannot recreate the in-office environment or experience as it was pre-Covid.

I work in office 830-1230pm, then head home on lunch to finish the day, where I’m on until almost 7pm. I don’t answer any slacks or emails when i’m on lunch, much less accept a meeting during lunch time. Unless it’s something extreme, it’s not that important to me and can wait until after my lunch hour.

That makes no sense that people are driving home during peak working hours. My laptop and phone would be blowing up and I’d have to pull over. I’d never get home.

There are SOME areas (insurance member contact) that were never required to come back PERIOD if they didn't want to. Only new hires are required in office first 6 months, then after that they can go hybrid. But incumbents were allowed to stay fully remote if they chose to!

My AVP doesn’t care, she’s remote in Maryland. I’ve been upfront with her, I was WFH prior to Covid, but since I live within the 60 mile radius (53miles), I have to come into office, and I told her, I’m not spending 8 hours in office, I’ll be there 8-12, then finish up at home. Bad enough it’s a 90 minute drive in the morning, I’m not spending 2hours in 5pm traffic, she agreed. My entire team, we show up between 8-9am, and we’re out by 1pm.

P&C member contact roles are still 3 days a week is my understanding, unless you are a people leader and you are 4 days a week. EMG has a dashboard they can review for adherence to the RTO mandate. Appears based on other posts and conversations that some enforce it more than others.

I mean some people come and go as they please and its doubtful thatthey are there more than four hours…

There could be pockets of areas like that, but they're laying low. The official spiel is 4 day forced hybrid, but I can tell you it's not being hit so far. The middle of the week shows the most attendance; I' betting we'll get a bell curve pattern showing up soon.

This will make Weecock stain his Underoos and send him into a maniacal frenzy and scream at the managers to enforce/force the 4-day RTO. By middle of the year, the morale will plummet more causing the Weecock to blow another gasket and rage on about being in the office all the time. It's gonna be a bad 2024 y'all.
