Lots of IT people cut in Columbus

@2dc0 I heard Q4 so November would be spot on. Great, just be Thanksgiving, really nice of the Company not to just wait and leave it after the holidays but then again, most of IT is gone from late November to the first of the year.
Still, nothing says we care about you during the Christmas season as RTO.
IT RTO mid-Nov.
Time to have a great day everyone. Be better for our coworkers not the company!
Those that make themselves irreplaceable will be given the flexibility to WFH when needed. Those who are not will not be given the same flexibility. Just a fact of life, things are unfair and unequal. I'm sure managers will use it as a carrot for some, a club for others.
I know it doesn't matter to me, I'll be gone before long and this chapter of my working life will be over.
@2d1v I've said similar things somewhere in these messages and elsewhere. Before 2020, yes, most people went to the office 5 days a week, but were not questioned if they chose to WFH or elsewhere, or needed to handle a delivery or service call. Flexibility was never questioned. Now, they've gone extreme, where everything is questioned. Some departments want to impose inflexible bankers' hours or retail hours as if we're a shopping mall with a specific open and close time. It makes no sense. Being where I am in my career, I don't care. I'm doing it how I want and not asking. We'll see how that goes.
@2czs looks like most people would have bought into a hybrid return that allowed them a sense of some control over their commute schedule. I understand some people will say just rip the bandaid off and get over the pain of being in the office 5 days a week.
I will say I was on a 2/3 day schedule prior to 2020. 3 days in, 2 days home. Made it easier to get the kids to after school events and not rush to leave the office. Also saved on income tax 2 days a week which was a bonus
Now the kids are older and can drive themselves, not such a big deal but if I had the schedule before 2020, I should be able to keep that schedule after but not now. I think that's the big disconnect. The 2 days at home I worked on projects, head down, phone set to busy and I got a boat load done. Now, people stopping by to BS which is fine but doesn't do the project work any good
I'm tempted to put up a sign to leave me the F alone 2 days a week in the office so I can get my work done. Yes I was more productive at home because of the work I do, now, not so much.
Am I losing sleep over it, no. Will it hurt my PMR, most likely but I plan on using that as a catalyst for change. You want more production out of me, I need quiet head down time. I get that at home, not in a noisy office with a dozen interruptions each day.
Do I dislike my coworkers, no but they can be a pain and less time around them the better my work product is.
Take money away from employees, take oppurtunity away from employees, drive lifetime emoyees away and promote friends and family. Hey evdryoe lut a fake smike on. Drlusional is thinking everything at AEP is ok when posting on AEP layoff.com. Acknoeledge reality ang hold your leaders accountable. Look at them. Did they earn their postion.
You all are so delusional you can’t even accept that some people are trying to make life better by being less negative. Not everything is a big corporate conspiracy. Life isn’t fair. The plan was never to be wfh forever. It was for covid, a pandemic. Life goes on. It’s time to be mature adults and move on. If you just can’t move on then try to make a change. We want a better work place and one way we can influence our workplace is our attitudes. Sorry if that offends some of you.
It pretty classical toxic AEP leadership, to say Culture has to start at the lower levels. It really shows the lack of accountability. Remember, a foxic culture is more likely to change you, then you change it.
@2cz3 IT is coming back into the office, just wait, it's only a matter of time. IT was supposed to have already returned but got the canning of one CITO. They will be back in, mark my word, it's not if, just when.
It horrible people ask zomething of their company, like a career. Bell leaders should be abld to lie, exploit and take advantage of their employees. How dare anyway say anything also. If you dont like it leave. The leadership will still get promoted and he-l aslong as tbe customers are forced to float the bills, who cares. Its not like turnover costs the company anyways right?
@2chh What if employees filed a class action law suit? Hypothetically, if you drove to work more than 50 mi prepandemic, some are granted WFH, or if you're IT WFH, you're saving much $$ and time, without adjusting compensation of those who RTO. Think about it - 1.5 hrs/day to commute (consider it as 9.5 hrs work related per day, no paid lunch) times 52 weeks minus PTO/Vaca - per year...your hourly wage is less than WFH
@2cyh We the corporate leadership are enjoying our "Sweet Deal" and we can't understand why everyone else is angry they are having to suffer our injustice to PAY for it. Maybe, because you have neither earned or deserve it and you are abusing your authority to enjoy it.
@2cyh CONTEMPT SAYS IT ALL!
@2cyh you sweet, sweet, summer child. Bless your heart.
You all need to stop letting the negativity drain you. Those guys are right you need to try to live a good life and be happy. You don’t like the company? Don’t let it ruin your life. Not everything is doom and gloom enjoy your life. If you can’t do that leave the company and find somewhere that doesn’t pi-s in your Cheerios so much. Personally I am contempt here, but that doesn’t mean everyone is. Smile, try to spread some positivity, it probably would help the culture where you work.
@2cmq there was an AEPNow article on it a few weeks ago. If you search for it on Monday, you should be able to find it
Accenture had a chokehold on tech consulting engagements because of Therace. She’s gone, so they will be too.
@2cn5 The corporate leisure class are nothing more than un-necessary parasites stealing the prosperity we, the toiler class labor diligently to create and sustain, for their own unearned and undeserved obscene vain-glorious self-aggrandizement. These are the very people that should be deported because they take and offer nothing in return. We needed those thousand employees and had we gotten rid of the un-necessary and burdensome corporate leisure class we all could have shared in greater prosperity, shareholders, stakeholders, employees, retirees and contractors. The only real losers would have been the trust fund parasites and the corrupt politicians, who enable and empower them. Remember the PAC and hedge funds are the reason we are in this tyrannical nightmare. Rise up toiler class, we are the only majority and we shall all be free.
The pivotal role of American workers in building the nation and economy
American workers, or "toilers," have played a foundational role in building the nation and driving its economic development throughout history. From the early days of agriculture and skilled crafts, through the rise of industrialization and the modern service economy, the dedication and hard work of the American workforce have been essential for progress.
Here's how their contributions have shaped the United States:
Early industries: In the colonial and early national periods, American laborers built the foundations of the economy through agriculture, fishing, maritime trades, and skilled craftsmanship.
Industrial Revolution: During the Industrial Revolution, the rise of factories depended heavily on the labor of men, women, and even children, often under harsh and unsafe conditions, notes ThoughtCo notes ThoughtCo.
Unionization and worker rights: Facing exploitative conditions, workers organized into labor unions to advocate for better wages, reasonable hours, and safer workplaces, leading to significant reforms in labor laws and improved living standards.
Driving economic growth: Manufacturing jobs have historically been linked to economic growth, creating a ripple effect through direct and indirect employment, and fueling consumer spending.
Innovation and technological advancement: Workers have contributed to innovation and technological advancement by filling jobs in manufacturing, research and development, and various industries that utilize new technologies like automation and robotics.
Diverse Workforce: Immigrants have long been a driving force in the American workforce, filling labor shortages, launching businesses, and fostering innovation across various industries.
Modern challenges and the working class: While the American economy has grown, the working class continues to face challenges like wage inequality, job insecurity, and the rise of low-wage jobs, notes a document from John Richmond notes a document from John Richmond.
In Conclusion
The history of the United States is deeply intertwined with the efforts of its workers, who have consistently been a driving force behind its economic growth and development.
@2cmb what do you mean they kicked Accenture out? Is accounting still using them?
I'm starting to think the company has HR or others insert positive comments in order to make the company not look F'd up as it is. I wonder if they are having a hard time recruiting people to fill positions being open.
I've heard people are in fact leaving in decent numbers in various groups and the way the hiring process works, they can't fill the positions fast enough.
They kicked Accenture out, soon to follow us TCS, I'll bet these boards are not helping with the backfilling of open or soon to be open positions
I know I would never recommend AEP to any of my friends, I just wouldn't unless they needed the cash to save the house. The place is like a cancer, slowly ki-ling everyone.
It is time to make our voices heard and demand the respect and seat at the corporate board table we have earned and deserve. We shall not be intimidated, humiliated and dis-enfranchised by corporate outsiders who have earned nothing, deserve nothing and are respected by no one but themselves.
Corporate greed is a major factor driving widespread employee dissatisfaction and frustration across various industries.
This frustration stems from several issues:
Exploitation of workers: Many companies prioritize profit maximization by cutting costs through reduced wages, benefits, and safety measures. This leads to low pay, poor working conditions, and a lack of job security.
Stagnant wages and skyrocketing CEO pay: Worker productivity has increased significantly, but wages haven't kept pace. Meanwhile, CEO compensation has dramatically risen, creating a feeling of imbalance and unfairness among employees, according to Medium.
Burnout and lack of support: The pressure to do more with fewer resources is leading to high levels of burnout. Companies often fail to provide adequate support for employee well-being, contributing to a sense of being overworked and undervalued.
Job insecurity and instability: Focus on mergers and acquisitions, or short-term gains over long-term sustainability, can lead to job losses and a lack of investment in employees, creating uncertainty about the future.
Erosion of trust and unfair practices: Unethical practices driven by greed, like misleading customers or unfair labor practices, can damage employee trust in leadership and the organization as a whole, according to a blog post from www.horizonp.de.
These factors contribute to low employee morale, decreased job satisfaction, and a poor work environment, potentially leading to lower productivity and higher turnover rates.
Many workers are now actively challenging this imbalance through protests, strikes, and increased union activity, highlighting a growing demand for fair treatment and a more equitable distribution of wealth and power within corporations.
@2cgs Not to mention deferred lives because we work all day, work outage restoration all night or until the power is restored and right back to work on our assigned shift. Corporate management needs to stop patting themselves on the back and rewarding themselves for being a bag of di-ks.
Deferred maintenance, deferred right of way trimming, deferred merit raises, deferred cost of living increases, deferred promotions, deferred equipment replacement, deferred hiring, but corporate executives generous raises and bonuses are rewarded without fail. It is time for the swarm of hedge fund locusts to be eradicated because WE ALL NEED SOME RELIEF from this insular, elitist, self-aggrandizing, vain-glorious, pompous, oligarch wannabees, corporate cult of self-pontification.
@2c8a
That is the d-mbest thing I've ever heard.
Telling a bunch of people who are overworked, understaffed and experiencing severe burnout together while management hires a bunch of high-priced execs is tone-def AF. It would only 'start with us' if we made any of the real decisions. Want happy? Make this place more of a co-op, and cram that Andy Jassy mentality where it don't shine.
There are a lot of good people in the world, just not in AEP leadership.
Hedge fund locusts, "Join the swarm".
Thank you @2cc! Those are definitely management plants trying to boost morale via these boards. Same energy as Glassdoor. Forcing positivity statements and saying “cmon just be happy” is not the same as actively practicing change management across the organization. I need them to do the hard work of change in action. That’s when the vibe of these boards will change and might even die out. But they gotta care first so good luck there!
I'm sure it's the same guy, in 2 posts, he has 29 negative responses. It's not the employees, it's the company. I understand why you may not want to be depressed all day at work but keep your happy pills to yourself.
If my PMR.says I have a bad attitude, at least it'll show management is seeing it first hand. If they ask me why, I can say look around, open your eyes. If I put on a fake happy face, they'll tell everyone above them, the changes are working, they're not
Trying to stay positive at this place is too exhausting. I like many others, I have begun crossing the days off the calendar until I can retire. The days of devoting 40 plus years to this place are over. The workload and tempo we must now bear should qualify field employees for full retirement after 25 years. Promoting from the outside instead of from the internal pool of dedicated employees is a deal breaker. Law enforcement and firefighters can retire with full benefits after 20 years. First responders run towards the danger to save lives and serve communities. Corporate officers run towards the biggest piles of money to enrich themselves.
Culture really does start with us at the ground floor. If we come together and choose to make AEP a great place to work it will be! I’ve been working in my positivity and it is contagious. It didn’t start with me, I just picked it up from a team member. Every day can be a great day.
Looks like some managers are hitting the board to drum up a better attitude in their employees. Being in IT, I only have positive feelings towards my American co-workers. The guys from India are useful id--ts for the company but are not the technical geniuses Therace and her lackeys tried to sell them as. No wonder the contract will not be renewed. Not looking forward to training a bunch of new guys but anything has to be better than TCS
The truth. There is no future for honest, hardworking employees at AEP. In order to have a future, yiu have to have money, which will help with connections, play politics, and decieve others. That appears in my expedience the way to have a future at AEP. If you dont like this perspective and you are a leader, look in the mirror.
Culture starts with us everyone. Start each day with a good mindset. Some things may not be perfect but nothing is. AEP is a great place to work. Keep your head up and stay positive! If you can’t be positive go see a doctor
If you want to be a team, then treat people like a team member. Not a tool to be disposed of when you are done with them. Leaders su-k at AEP.
Let’s get after it team! That guy is right we are all in this together. It’s a great day to be a great AEP employee! Let’s keep the lights on and be the best we can be. Let’s not waste our lives being complacent! Time to get after it and be awesome! One team one fight!
@2bzp I think we all know why they’re being picked
The best performers generally move up in their careers, before and after AEP. WTH are we witnessing with these grade C recycled utility execs and VPs now?
If you aren't picking the best person, what is your real motivation?
