Misery loves company and AEP is a company where misery is never lonely. The sad part is it doesn't have to be this way, but sorry azz leadership looks out for their selves and leaves their employees to fend for themselves. Soon, it will be employees looking out for themselves and leadership fending for themselves. The extreme heat, injuries and fatalities and the never-ending struggle are driving employees to seek better working conditions and safer occupations where you don't have to ki-l yourself or destroy yourself to earn shareholders more value.
Working in transmission comes with certain privileges. Not anyone can just walk in and work in transmission. We have the highest brain power by far. Tremendous brain power, the likes of which has never been seen. Yuge.
Also aren't we providing like 60% of the company's revenue? You should be thanking us you have a job, not demanding Bill take away our 4-10s.
@2f0z
Some animals are more fair than the other animals. I would expect that anyone of working age would know that. He-l look at RTO. IT is still remote right? Well that is not fair either!
I’ve known nothing about transmission; distribution is my realm. If you let some Do 4 10s all should be able to. If that doesn’t work oh well 5 8s for all. Also save money and don’t have take home vehicles. They’re back in office now so there’s no need.
We're not all on 4-10s but it is an option a lot of people took. I figure it's only a matter of time before Iron Bill puts a stop to that too.
@2ewh
Been hiding under a rock? Transmission engineering has been on 4 - 10s for a while. Transmission field services has been on them for years.
Please, this is management. Let me exploit you, lie to you, manipulate. Besides our customers will float the bill for our incomopetance. Put a smile on your face.
Cool have a good week, but some engineers are getting to work 4 day weeks? Wtf. If you’re going to let some do it let us all do it!!!
Let’s try to have a good week everyone. I’m sorry things aren’t great for everyone right now. Let’s just do what we can to make it to the weekend.
@2efw More like the herd mentality always leads to a big corral and an unexpected and inevitable betrayal.
@2efw cool story, bro.
@2efg Anything remotely creative and non-conforming is automatically characterized as AI. No thinking outside of the box we placed you in. Don't you dare have an original thought of your own. Only parrot what we tell you to say. No creativity that might distinguish you from the rest of the corporate cult. The herd mentality always leads to a big corral and an unpleasant surprise.
@2ecb Just me being a smart azz regarding their weird comment that was almost certainly alliterated by AI.
I thought I had seen it all as an AEP employee. This morning a 12 year old shows up with Grogu lunch box and his light saber. Must be one of the new engineering hires. I thought to myself good luck little Jedi, you are certainly in the right place to fight the dark forces of the evil empire. May the force be with you.
Out of the loop, I guess. What’s the dr-g test thing about? Who? Why?
AEP has already handed out the out of cycle money for the people they needed to retain. If you didn't get any $ but yet are still on here complaining, you should probably find a new home. If my pa-ties were in that big of a twist, I would take my skills to someone else who appreciates me more. If I could not do that, then I would just be quiet, try to enjoy my job and my mediocrity.
I don’t hear any complaints from my coworkers at AEP Texas. Culture must be good with Judith
It is a shame that the response to employee awesomeness is he needs to be dr-g tested.
Makes me think this toxic corporate culture is intentional to hide corporate's abysmal inferiority and Glass Door reviews.
@2ebr HR called. You have a dr-g screening scheduled for tomorrow at 8am.
Inferior leadership produces inferior results because they promote inferior employees to avoid creating a superior contrast to their inferiority. Mediocrity inspires no one and diminishes everyone. Stop rewarding mediocrity and punishing excellence to perpetuate comfortable institutional uniformity. We are better than you. Always have been. Always will be no matter how hard you try to keep us down. We are the PHOENIX that keeps rising from the ashes of corporate selfishness and incompetence.
Which OpCo has good culture right now? Which OpCo has lots of leadership leaving? Are any of us doing ok? Scary times.
Boss Hogg be diggin through his prior deputies again....
If the VP from Cook is still employed with AEP he was never loyal to AEP. Have some standards. You made enough money. Stand up.
You let the fox on the farm and now he is going to be guarding the hen house. What could possibly go wrong? (SARCASM incase it was not obvious). I think state regulators and major shareholders need to address this issue since Mr. Icahn is a minority shareholder gaining a great deal of power, not commensurate with his level of investment holdings.
Bill is now going to be the new chairman of the board. Hostile takeover in action, yeah let’s give him even more power
@2dkr
Curious to hear more about life/scandal/gossip at Cook, mainly because a certain EVP and several of his cronies here at corporate all came from Cook....and they have no clue about the electric business other than what they know about running a nuclear plant...
Hoping for the rumored layoffs so I can get my butt into gear and be motivated to hunt for a job.
@2dsn we were all lied to about COVID and the vaccine, don't blame people for being pi---d about either one of them. AEP handled it better than some, worse than others. Let's hope the CCP doesn't release Covid-## on us again.
If the company didn't learn from it's mistakes, hopefully I'll be out of here before the next one.
@2dsa I do my best to take care of state side employees, sc--w the guys in India. I force them to use the process, no back alley for them. You an American employee, I got your back.
Did the workers stsrt slacking off, because they were sc--wed by a leader who lies, manipulates, backstabs, plays favorites, supports neopotism. All you are is describing a broken culture created by leaders, who dont value your hard work. Look upwards in your chain of command if you want to blame anyone for negativity and individuals not caring. When your best employees go quiet and stop caring, sonething is wrong and it is not with the employees.
I saw how fellow employees cared during the pandemic when employees with vulnerable family members wore masks in the workplace to try to avoid bringing COVID home to their vulnerable family members. I saw how employees mocked and taunted anyone who dared to defy them and wear a mask. That's when I said sc--w them as they brought COVID into the workplace. Care my a-s, all you are worried about is the bottom line and your generous ICP.
@2dsa Disagree. We don't have to like anywhere or anyone. We can be professional while doing our jobs, and that's the extent of it. Many of us work here or elsewhere to support our lives. If someone says they have a passion for the work or the company, there is a good chance they aren't being honest with you or themselves. "Care" about one another is a super-strong concept. I care for my family. I am professional with my coworkers who are NOT my family. For those who may be passionate about their coworkers, company, or role, that's great. For those that aren't, that's fine.
Going through comments I understand hating the company. But do you all really hate each other so much you can’t support the idea of being good and at least not negative for each other? If you’re one of the employees slacking because sc--w the company, there’s just going to be one of your coworkers having to pick up your slack.I get it sc--w the company. But we can still do a good job for each other and boost each others mental health by not being overly negative. You don’t have to care about the company but we need to at least care about each other. Some of us are getting sc--wed by those so pi---d they’ve decided to start slacking off. Please, just do your part while you are here.
Given how CEO's act in general, I do not want to be 'immersed' with one.
@2dcb that's ok, all of Therace's brown nose will start to leave as soon as she sets up shop in another company. They will do the same to another group of managers in another company as they did here, they'll use a PIP to force out people, club people into early retirement or just leave. They'll start with operations and move to applications after that. The managers that came from TCS, who's loyalty is still with TCS will leave at some point as well as soon as they start getting poor PMR 360 reviews. Once I know upper management is no longer there to protect them, 360 reviews will go into the tank for these guys.
Time to use the system against them like they did when they first got here. I will not have an issue with putting down, "failure to communicate clear and concise instructions", "often have to ask for repeated instructions when speaking", "have to resort to asking for details in emails because of the language barrier", "not up to date on current issues or technical aspects of the systems", "no sense of being able to think outside of the box on issues, must rely on check lists". This is not being bias, it's a hard and sad truth.
Coldplay kiss cam scandal. Everyday life at Cook
@2dah
To anyone who can't get through that building easily with a disability, you sound like an insensitive a55.
Please find a better use for your time.
@2dcb if you’re outside a 50 mile radius, you’re supposedly exempt. If you move to avoid RTO, I heard that won’t go over well. Who knows. They will shape the rules to their advantage when everyone knows RTO companywide is a sham.
@2dcb Looking forward to Steve Martin moving to Columbus!
How does this work when 1/2 your management is still going to be remote
