We were alerted today that the industrial engineering team will be conducting a time study. How soon until my role is let go?

What AOR or segment of the business? Most of the past industrial engineering studies failed to account for any reasonable level of handling customer inquiries or transitioning from one assignment (claim) to another. The departments take the studies, over promise on the work efficiency benefits, then chases their targets for the next 12-18 months while overwhelming their folks. In some cases the observations do result in workflow or process changes that are helpful including mechanizing or sending to ASPL.

Have to disagree on the “over 40” comment. It’s not about age, it’s about compensation in Job Band. If you’ve been at Allstate for a while and received typical increases and not promotions you may be paid 70-80% of your job maximum. Customers can’t afford that! They’d prefer you be replaced with someone far less experienced, but cheaper! Cheap labor is the bedrock of all successful businesses, you know.

I'd start updating that resume and start looking at job listings as "time study" is pretty much a notice of your upcoming 60 day notice.

2024 is going to see a lot of different impacts.

Never a good sign. At the least they will use this to give a reason downsize your position and either double up the work on those left saying the time study showed their should be more production per employee or they will bring in ASPL to do some of the work at less than half the payroll dollar.

So at the very least your position is being downsized in number of people in the role. I doubt it is being eliminated all together although they may make part or all of it an India or outside vendor role.

Interesting timing of the announcement. Land the message when the maximum number of people are on PTO.

The clock is no doubt ticking.

I'm sure that, like with the "play this game to keep your job" exercise of a few years ago the "time study" will find that anyone over 40 and less than a VP will be redundant.
