Krapopolis - Engagement Survey Results

I noticed a few mentions about the missing engagement survey this year. This was pulled from Glass Door and sums up current culture fairly well.

“The most pressing concerns included poor management practices and a pronounced lack of adequate tools [and resources]. These deficiencies created an environment where employees often felt underprepared and undervalued. The 'sink or swim' mentality pervaded the workplace, leaving little room for structured growth or meaningful feedback. Promotions and career advancement appeared to be heavily influenced by office politics rather than merit or capability, which further contributed to a demotivating work atmosphere. The investment in employee development was noticeably minimal, with a disproportionate focus on quantitative metrics over individual or team well-being.”
Every leader in our area is looking to leave despite their invested years of dedication. The culture has tanked.

“Indeed, promotions are exclusively available to individuals of color. The concept of merit is completely disregarded during the promotion process.”

This is complete nonsense. Many non-POC are being promoted. Just look at the most recent promotions to the ELT- all middle-aged white guys. Stop whining and making yourself a victim.

However…I will say that not all promotions are based on merit. We have too many people who have been promoted to top leadership positions in the past couple years who have no business being there (most are not POC). Cigna has way too many senior leaders who are in over their heads.

Yikes. Don’t turn on each other. The variety of backgrounds, experiences and ideas is a beautiful thing. What’s happening lately is rough, but we need each other.

Wasnt there a comment here citing an IRIS report on DEI and something about only hiring women? I wanted to look and see if that was true but don't see that comment anymore.

“You are likely a white guy who has watched others get promoted and you were taught that just being a mediocre white man will get you into management like Cordani.”

It’s OK to be white.

That escalated quickly in a bizarre way

“the majority of DEI managers prioritize their own career advancement “

What an inaccurate and awful thing to say. It’s fitting though. You are likely a white guy who has watched others get promoted and you were taught that just being a mediocre white man will get you into management like Cordani. Pro tip, you are more likely to get a decent job at Cigna via nepotism or kiss up to one of the bosses who are so afraid to lose their job

Indeed, promotions are exclusively available to individuals of color. The concept of merit is completely disregarded during the promotion process. Cigna has truly elevated the standards of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). However, a significant issue arises as the majority of DEI managers prioritize their own career advancement and approach this matter on a personal level. Consequently, the absence of people managers has resulted in a substantial divide between managers and employees. These managers recruit individuals from vendors and convert them into full-time employees, yet these newly hired individuals primarily serve the interests of these managers rather than the company itself.

I agree, Cigna is a shell of it's former self. Thinking back to 2 years ago, end of 2021, things overall looked good despite everything else happening in the world. Slowly things just started to turn stale and now tank. Many of the leaders I looked up left, colleagues I looked up laid off, and the outlook of my own future in this company is bleak. Company practices like FOW, new metrics, and operation expense cuts keeps pushing people to do more with less. Meanwhile executives are rolling in dough.
