Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Change in job title

So rumor has it now that org restructuring is happening, job titles are changing and no increase in pay with it. Example
:making a specialist I (in any area ) now will be a specialist II, and a specialist II will now be a specialist III . It’s like getting a promotion in title position but no increase in pay. What a joke, right? Has anyone else been told this?

My team received a title change without pay as well. We are paid the same as another team in our department with our work being much more complex. Recently, temps are started off making $5-7 more an hour than employees who have been with the company for 5-10 years.

"There are new jobs posted, is there a reason internal candidates can’t get transfered to these posted positions prevent the layoffs?"

What is the process they should follow to transfer those candidates? Regardless of that process if they selected a few people to fill those positions there would be people complaining and asking why they weren't the ones selected. It opens too big of a Pandora's box.

They are open for anyone to apply

Of course not because if they actually wanted to be a decent employer they would have offered these positions to the people they ultimately laid off. Besides, this way they force you to go through the whole apply & interview process although you have been with the company for years in some cases. Never understood that - shouldn't your supervisor & PLs know if you are suitable to a role? Isn't that one of the purposes of performance reviews and 1:1's? The other problem is they don't want to have to pay you more. Why pay you more if they can hire someone externally for less? This is why they stopped promoting from within (at least in my department), took away all bonus's, incentives, or real worthwhile raises. At this point there is no reason to do more than the bare minimum. Centene can bi--h all they want about lack of morale and motivation among their employees. They created this environment because of being a half assed run company that is constantly being sued and now they can suffer the consequences of said choices. The idea that they expect employees to rejoice in being sh-t on just so they can fill their pockets is crazy.

People here were shifted to different supervisors, no new titles, and no change in pay.

This is happening in UM with no pay differential

Changes in job titles generally means opportunities to lay off as some previous positions/associates don’t make the cut of the “new” position.

I have seen promotions/title changes, but the people that received them also received pay increases.
