For those that can view the HR Town Hall, at 30 minutes someone who does not want to be on stage in place of their SVP or AVP explains how much was saved by putting healthcare out for bids. It’s apparent they chose a stinker. In this era of healthcare premiums going up, they found a way to have employees pay more for insurance with a company that has a horrible reputation. But cheer on!!

I wonder if Stevie Wayne is on Cigna as well. Or do the leeches have a better plan?
I agree that there is a reason for all of this, including TOF's rapid exit. And none of this has to do with "making USAA great again".
I worked for a private equity bank years ago. They sell companies/products to anyone with the $ to buy, and do not care if the new buyers run the company into the ground. For them, it is always about a quick turn of the buck for their profit.
I think USAA cut employees wi--y-nilly, especially the higher salary ones. They threw the work onto those who remained so that the lights stay on, but little-to-no true innovation in product. As those workers leave, they are replaced with 3rd party labor (they can get them for less $, overwork them, and they do not complain because they are happy to be in the U.S.).
I think TOF was forced out. There is still $ in them there hills for TOF, and she didn't join USAA to retire. I think she performed her service, and they got tired of her high salary. Remember, it is ALWAYS about $. This is why Big Bird is very happy to do his $ grab.
I think USAA will divide up its business interests, and start selling them off. They simply cannot afford to continue to bleed value.
Red and blue, what's that? Is the decimation of benefits intended to make the company more enticing to a buyer on paper, i.e. look at our low low health care costs, our employees love licking gruel off the floor boards; just show them some B-roll of a flag waving and they'll work extra for free! There's been increasing posts on here from Wayne's Clown Posse, indicating the slashing of benefits and degradation of employees is in service to the membership. That doesn't ring true to me. In the absence of the incentives that accompany the sale of a publicly traded company, what would motivate the sale of USAA by the current board and executive team? Are there cronies at other institutions who want to buy USAA for a song and then reward the vultures who made it happen with plum executive roles?
It's to align all of the company for red badge.. you'll only have uppers with blue. It's why hardly any reds have become blue in years and more reds have entered the chat..employee pays more company saves more, their rep is in the dumpster fully engulfed and they're just finishing the final things. Or it could all be bs 🤷
Did anyone go to Marketplace to see if you could get better coverage? This was my first year using healthcare.gov and there were so many options. I spoke to a representative that explained it is set up differently than private insurance. One example is only one total out of pocket expense, instead of your deductible and then coinsurance out of pocket for most programs. Might be worth looking into for next year if things do not improve.
I am a member as well and have been for close to 20 years. So yeah…anyway what is everyone doing for Christmas?
HR doesn't seem to care about remote employees. In the big city where I live, Cigna is widely frowned upon esp medical practitioners, like it's for low-tier companies. Fortunately in my case, my doctor still accepts it. My specialists, nope. My monthly premium with Cigna went up significantly because I needed to signup for the 2 of 3 suppl benefits. And to the previous poster (is it you again, TOF?) , I am both a "me" and a "member" and I care about both. Healthcare is a serious business and I don't take my health for granted.
Certainly seems like something to be celebrated considering the company lost $1.5 billion last year. I’d gladly pitch in if it means our members get to pay less for premiums. My doctor is in network and my healthcare barely went up. But carry on complaining…because you only care about the “me” in “member.”
How strange it must be to be cheered for setting in motion a ton of frustration and sometimes true despair that occurs from having healthcare insurance notorious for not paying. In Q4, many doctors are dropping off the network.
