Does anyone think that the Hess buy may not happen?

It will go through. Hess has no downstream presence in the US (all sold off in the last ten years - they did Chevron a favor), so little fodder for FTC objection. There will be the usual whining from officials in non-oil-producing states (Schumer is already on record with his generic 'it's bad for the consumer' nonsense), it'll make for cute little sound bites but no substantial objections.
It's being challanged in congress
The acquisition of Hess by Chevron will definitely go through. Why ask? Do you have any sound reason or theory to think that it won’t?
No
