It’s actually too bad because this was the most logical deal. There really isn’t another equally attractive alternative. I don’t believe the negotiations are over though and wouldn’t be surprised if it is announced the deal is back on later in 2024.
I read in an updated article feom yesterday that they would make an announcement about MA within two weeks.
"Cigna's plan to divest its Medicare
Advantage business is still going ahead and could be announced within two weeks, one of the people said. That business has drawn interest from potential buyers including Health Care Service Corp., Bloomberg News has reported."
With assistance from.John Tozzi
They have trashed the MA department by getting rid of our experts and taking away our encoding software in the coding AND auditing departments. I don't think they're going to change their mind about selling with how much they've stripped away accuracy and compliance.
I personally think they were considering the MA sell due to the Humana deal. I could be wrong, but I would take David’s statement two ways. They could look for bolt on acquisitions ( this could include MA acquisitions to grow MA) or bolt on acquisitions that would supplement Cigna’s business and give the option to divest Medicare. I’m hoping the first thought is right. I’m a Medicare advantage employee myself and this is a stressful time.
Why can't David talk like a human being. The guy keeps speaking in "Commercialese" What do you think David means when he says:
"In light of the current environment, we will consider bolt-on acquisitions aligned with our strategy, as well as value-enhancing divestitures."
Is this David's way of admitting to divesting Cigna Medicare without actually saying it?
However... according to Reuters, "Cigna is still exploring the sale of its Medicare Advantage business, which manages government health insurance for people aged 65 and older, the sources said. That move would mark a reversal of its expansion in the sector."
So we Cigna Medicare employees are still clouded with uncertainty when it comes to job security.
That's good for employees meaning less layoffs. Since if they merged they would have to layoff any duplicate jobs.
