Has anyone been layoff and then was rehired shortly after? If so, did you retain your years of service and benefits such as pay and PTO, or did you start anew? Additionally, how did you feel about the choice to rejoin the company after the layoff and forgo your SUB/ severance benefits.

I came back within the two year time frame thus kept my years of service; however, after being laid off after 30+ years my options were limited outside of Anthem/Elevance and I wasn't quite ready to retire. I came back only to put in a few more years for my benefit until retirement. After being laid off, the commitment and desire to work hard to get ahead is gone and the department where I was rehired has been absolutely horrible which didn't help. I am just pulling my time and that is it...which is very sad. And yes, when I was laid off I was over 50 yrs as well.
Yes I have. As long as you return within 2 years of your Rif date your seniority will be retained.
Never go back. They decided once they didnt need you and told you so. If they are hiring you back it is because they really need you for short term and or something is really messed up. Let em fail.
Reinstatement - Re-employment within two years of termination from Elevance Health. The service date shall be adjusted to reflect prior service, less the time for break in service. Note that reinstatement within 30 days will result in no adjustment to your service date and your health and life insurance benefits will continue without interruption.
Rehire - Re-employment more than two years after termination from Elevance Health. The associate is treated as a new hire for most benefits and programs.
Policy now is after 30 days, you get nothing if you are rehired. They do their best not to reward you with anything. They aren't worth coming back to work for especially if you work in the states. They look for every opportunity to send work to their facilities in the Philippines and India. Cheap labor. Most of their call centers are in the Philippines. that is why their global company is called Carelone and is part of Government.
I came back into IT after being RIF'd and wound up RIF'd again 3 years later. It was a huge mistake to come back to this garbage organization. I actually left a good job with potential to come back...I stupidly came for a small increase in salary which I lost being out of work after they tossed me again. If you're gone I highly advise you not come back.
I was let go and was re-hired several years later. You start all over again... PTO, Severance calculations... had 20+ years and started from 0 with years towards severance... I think there is some sort of indicator on you HR record that identifies you as a rehire = Yes. I though the window for a rehire as continuous service was 30 days.
I was rehired after 4 years and had to start over with PTO. I think the restart is after 2 years of non consecutive service.
