Did anyone actually answer the survey honestly? Usually I just paint the rosy picture of mediocrity that is status quo. This time, it caught me at a bad place in the "mood elevator " so I actually answered honestly. Looking back on it now, I am wondering about the consequences of what I wrote. Who gets to read the actual comments people write? If you are a small team, does the manager get to read the words we wrote? Not to be passive aggressive but if so, wouldn't that be a great way to share feedback to them since we do not get to do 365 reviews.

To me, the questions are too generic. I would wonder how they make the feedback actionable. For example, you could start with a generic question for exec level reporting like exists now, then if a person answered negatively or even neutral, then drill down to help identify what needs improving. If the person answered positively, drill down to get the positive feedback or look for areas they can still improve. I do not mind being honest. If they really wanted to know how leadership was doing they would list the specific qualities that make a leader competent and exceptional. Those are actionable. Maybe this is why we have so many sh---y managers and leaders?
I never fill those out. Ever. I'm too paranoid and there is very little nice I could say.
Managers have no access to any identifying info. Sometimes can guess based on the comments but that's about it.
Yes, leaders with more than 5 respondants see the exact comments for their directs and the comments roll up to org leaders.
Most “anonymous” survey submissions include a digital record of your IP address, employee login ID, or email which can be tracked back to you.
No work survey is truly anonymous.
I was honest. And don’t be fooled into thinking it’s really anonymous. Managers with 5 or more can view responses and it doesn’t have names, but there is a way to filter the demographic info to figure it out if you really want to know.
To be honest my manager is offshore they are very nice and give me good feedback but they are basically the end result. The company wants to offshore and outsource all things IT related it seems. They literally laid off text at the help desk in April and are hiring contractors in the Philippines to backfill. I gave my direct manager high marks with fives and fours literally everything else was a one. Anything related to upper management was a one. Unfortunately our managers are punished when we don't give five stars across the board to everything their bonuses are affected that they can't convince us that the upper management gives 2 craps about us US people.
We figure out who said what for the most part. . Just give good scores(or don't complete it) to not feel retaliation and move on.
Managers cannot see individual feedback unless they have more that about 10 reports. They can see scores if 5 or more reports do the survey. It’s designed so that your responses can’t be directly traced back to you.
Side note, although the surveys don’t change much, if enough people are honest then things will maybe get incrementally better.
If you like your boss complete it so they get their bean count. That is the only number that matters. Just do right down the middle cant tell if i agree or disagree. Never ever leave a trail of written comments there is zero upside on that move. However I get horse traded every 6 to 12 mos so I care not about anyone but me. Your milage may vary. If you are not a su-kup high potential nothing matters anyway

Always give your manager the highest score. It makes life easier for everyone. Otherwise, you end up in a short Thursday meeting.
I would be honest because I am going to be very honest with reviews so fair is fair right?
