Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

It's not even about layoffs anymore

I don't know about other teams, but we are drowning in work. We just keep getting more than we can realistically get done and then we're criticized individually or as a team when things don't get done when they think they should have been. They are basically piling on the stress until we run out the door ourselves. If this is not just us, then it might be the management's new tactic for getting rid of us.

We are drowning in work, but our statements are not being heard . The non performers continue to collect paychecks and produce at 50% of the requirement , while the rest of us either meet it, double it, triple it even.. and they continue to dole out the most cases to the highest producing people. This week I said enough, and I said why. I keep having this pervasive thought .. “ why am I ki-ling myself at this job if it’s going down the tubes and fast ? “

Centene is strategically laying off older nurse case managers.

I am one of the younger cm’s in my state/region and I am in my 50s. They haven’t hired people in what feels like forever, and the few “new” employees were brought in on temp contracts, all having the proverbial carrot dangled in front of them of getting a permanent position. None of which even made it to 1 year. The company as a whole is an older population, and it shows.

My team has some of our coworkers processing the cleaner claims, ie: the easier ones, and they keep running out of work. The system can’t keep up with the demand so then they have to ask for more work. Where is the logic in that? So now the exporting of work is affecting us. I’m sure we can all see the writing on the wall. Too bad because I am seeing a lot of errors coming back our way from offshore needing to be corrected.

Does anyone think they have a good case concerning age discrimination and a layoff? A case so good they might actually win? I ask only because I feel targeted, but I know it’s a very difficult thing to prove. The Co will throw in a few people in their 20’s to cover their as.. That way you can’t say they were flat out discriminating.

"It's not even about layoffs"... thank you, self-absorbed person, for making it painfully obvious that you give zero fu--s for those of us who have just been laid off through no fault of our own, right before the holidays, in a terrible job market. Btw, you're posting on THELAYOFF.COM, go bi--h somewhere else...

I'm so fu--ing tired of hearing "we're in the do more with less" bs. No, I'm one person getting one paycheck, I'm not going to do the work of 3 people. On top of hearing "if you do your job and do it well, that's a meets expectations" um, excuse me? You want me to do all this, very well and accept 3% bread crumbs that don't even cover taxes? Hard pass

I agree with op and replies. The workload is definitely piled way high and it’s probably temporary, and will likely be outsourced end the end. We’re all exhausted for sure. Our department was hit hard and already “restructured “. We’ve all been training to learn the task of those being laid off. I wouldn’t put anything past this company, but I’m curious if they’d really be wasting time and resources training us IF anymore of us are on upcoming layoff list? I’m just T.i.r.e.d and disappointed

My team is drowning. We were short staffed to begin with and the work load is just increasing daily.

I agree with this. However, I am constantly having to ask for work. Which is interesting confonsidering they supposedly have thousands of claims that require processing. They are being sent offshore. This is the goal to send whatever they can offshore since the contractors are not subject to USA labor laws - which means cheaper labor for Centene. Also means they don't have to pay for or provide benefits which is indirect contradiction with being a Healthcare Management Company. It also means more mistakes and errors - ultimately costing them their contracts (which is already happening) but ya know they don't care as long as their personal bank accounts are fat. That is not to say that others aren't being hit with picking up the slack from the layoffs.

The sad part is, the higher work load is probably temporary. They’re likely planning to send it off shore to a 3rd party contractor in another country. When they get that established, Your position will be eliminated in the next layoff. I hope I am wrong, because the quality will suffer and good people will be out of work.
