Just curious of the layoff process. Do you get an email invite from HR department or your direct manager? Do they send the invite the morning of or possibly day before?

"Always individual calls as they are required to tell you the amounts you get and that's confidential
They do it in 1:1's or have a quick 15 minute call with you"
I was told on a group WebEx. I'm not sure how many others were told that today was the last day, but there was at least 15 of us on the WebEx. We were told our positions were no longer, today would be our last day, and that our manager would be going over our severance and would answer any questions.

Interesting topic, I also wonder why they don't ask first for voluntary separation when looking for large scale cuts. I have seen other large companies do this, it literally is a win/win. In fairness, it can't solve all of it, they need to consider which departments should be or can be cut and weed out some low performers during the process, but adding in voluntary separation would theoretically help lessen the impact. Layoffs are a part of working for corporate, you try to just get used to it, and realize it's mostly out of your hands. It su-ks, but it's really not surprising this is happening, and it's happening everywhere, not just to us.

It’s disgusting that they tell someone while they are on PTO. Cruel.
Why don’t they let us volunteer to get laid off? If some people want out and Cordani wants to save money to pay the ELT hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s a win for everyone.
It is very sad the many amazing individuals this company is letting go. It doesn’t matter if you were a top performers and hand picked by your leadership team for certain projects. Like the other posts mentioned you get a WebEx or called while on PTO which is low of the low if you ask me and right before the holidays. Yes they offer most of severance packages but that still doesn’t soften the blow during a holiday season of giving. Remaining staff are scared to log into work every morning or scared to take PTO or a BA thinking they will be next. Cuts are being made across most departments advocates, nursing, IT and many more. That must be the way Cordani is going to pay for the California 172 million dollar law suit for denying claims. The state of Connecticut has a law suit pending too so I foresee many more cuts unfortunately
I got laid off 4 weeks ago and I got a meeting invite from my manager's manager. Met with him and an HR person. Took 7 minutes. I was elated. I have been wanting to leave for quite awhile but didn't want to quit or else forfeit any severance. After 25 years it finally happened. This is the happiest and less stressed out I've been in years. It's tough having all of this extra time but as I've been looking at jobs in my area It's overwhelming how much is out there. I'm excited to start a new chapter. It was a nice run Cigna but our time is over!
I was also one of the 10/12 layoffs. I got an invite overnight from my manager's assistant for a mandatory meeting first thing in the morning. If you get one of those on a Thursday at Cigna, be very concerned.
A meeting invite is sent the morning of by your direct upline to discuss organizational changes.
I am part of the 10/12 layoffs. I did not have an invite, in fact I was on PTO when my boss texted to ask if we could talk. I had no idea this was coming. Good luck to all who were laid off.
I was one of the layoffs on 10/12. My meeting was on my calendar for over a week labeled as a 1:1. Total blindside. I was at Cigna long enough to know how it worked. I never saw it coming until 8:32 am. My boss even joked with me when we got on the call.
You'll receive a last minute invite from your manager for a meeting in a short time frame. I am sure if it's a large amount in one group, maybe a group WebEx.
So far I have heard about individual WebEx meetings for the actual layoffs. But a group WebEx meeting was called afterwards to update everyone about what had happened within our part of the organization
Of course, it wasn't until I searched online did I learn the layoffs at Cigna were much more extensive. I appreciate this website and my fellow colleagues, whether or not in management, about insights given thus far! You are our life lines!
Will it be a group meeting or are they individual?
After the past couple months of dealing with this stress I’ll be looking forward to getting that email tomorrow.
You'll receive a meeting invite from your manager.
