Very curious which Medicare units were let go. I already am aware of some departmental CM changes during last week, but have heard nothing about Medicare area lay-offs.

Our CM band 4 sup got laid off, after they told us repeatedly that our dept would be safe. Our director said that there might be a Q1 third wave around (Feb?). I would suspect it may impact band 3 as we are losing clients and our case loads are all low. Hang on tight. Pump up those resumes and start looking for a back up plan. I don’t think they are done.

Does anyone know where we can sign up to voluntarily take the severance package. The instructions were once placed on IRIS but can’t find it anywhere!

Any word of additional MA layoffs since yesterday?

It does appear that 11/09 layoffs is not as large as 10/12. HOWEVER, I will argue that there were other layoffs earlier in the year that we more impactful to me. During Spring and Summer of 2023, there were spurts where I personally witness over 25 Medicare , Marketing, and Technology employees be laid off quietly. I also heard of several more employees that I never met. The "10/12 layoff" is NOT the 1st round, Cigna has quietly been laying off employees since Early 2023. Without giving away too much about my role, I can say each employees I personally knew who were let go in mid 2023 were all older with many years of experience. These were people I would go to for answers to get complex things done. Most of these "Cigna lifers" I worked with are now gone, and I have already started to run into situations where no one knows what to do in very specific situations because the subject mater expert who knew, was let go. It's just a matter of time where we run into issues with CMS due to so many important people being let go. Good Luck to Cigna selling off Medicare while it accumulates more corrective actions due to reduction of staff to pad earnings in the purse of increasing stock prices.

looks like this round was a lot less than 10/12

Isn't it uncanny that there seems to be so much conflicting information? Someone is certain about one thing, then the next person reports somethjling that negates that. How did Cigna accomplish that?? It's a little scary.

It's been crickets at my section of Care Solutions. But going on this site it's apparently much the opposite.

Please everyone, keep sharing.

My thoughts out to everyone let go today, this month, last month, and their families..

“Does anyone know if Medicare UM will be impacted“..... " I heard that Medicare UM and Medicare CM were told that their reductions were already made prior to October and they would not have further reductions in 2023."...

No Medicare UM or CM were laid off today nor in October. The reductions in Medicare UM and CM have already been made.

The 10% we were told was today. On the commercial side. Case management. Told it was all band 4 and that we as band 3 were safe for now

Just so you understand nobody is safe anymore. It can happen at any time. Don’t be naive. They have paid someone lots of money to find a buyer for Medicare. They haven’t said anything to us knowing that we know. They are capable of anything. I strongly encourage people to start looking if they haven’t already.

Re: "Case manager here band 3 just told me we're safe. But band 4 sup laid off... Just told 10% got cut"

If able, could you clarify if this is 10% planned between October 2023 and next Spring? Or 10% laid off today?

I'm sure so many people are reeling right now. I feel for you and hope you can recover soon! As for me, I'm just lucky to be safe...for now...

I heard that Medicare UM and Medicare CM were told that their reductions were already made prior to October and they would not have further reductions in 2023.

This cannot be true because some Medicare CMs were cut today as well as October 12th.

I do not like how secretive Cigna is about this. I’m a band 3 CM and haven’t heard anything about layoffs from our management team. If it weren’t for this site I would think everything is copacetic.

An entire team on the Medicare side was laid off, like 20+ people…have heard there are a total of 4 more rounds to go on Medicare side …

These additional rounds, will they be done before the new year?

Read up on cobra rules.

You can acquire coba retroactively.
So if you decide to skip health insurance and break your leg 2 months into your layoff, you can purchase cobra to cover you from the beginning of layoff.

Never purchase cobra unless you absolutely need it.

Cobra is subsidized by 500.. but don’t expect cobra to be cheap..

I am replying to the below. I think when you are saying subsidized healthcare, you may be interpreting it as being covered. Cigna subsidizing consists of you getting a reduced Cobra rate, that is all. When you see the coverage plans for the month, it is very little reduced, hence the high cost of Cobra.
Once your final day is terminated, you will get an option to immediately begin on Cobra once you agree to pay. Cigna is not offering healthcare through them anymore like during regular employment, let's be clear so people can make plans once this happens. Good luck all....

Regarding the comment:
"Check the insurance piece, they do not subsidize health insurance. Once done, you have to go to Cobra which is astronomical. Also, health insurance ends the Sunday after termination, that’s ridiculous."
You need to re-read the severance policy/documents you received (if you were severed). Health insurance is subsidized during your severance period.

The severance policy is actually pretty solid. 2 weeks per year of service, BUT depending on your pay band and base salary, the minimum is actually anywhere from 4 weeks to 26 weeks. E.g. even if you've only been there for 2 months, a band 3 employee making under 100k would get somewhere around 12-14 weeks and if their base is over 100k it would be 22 weeks minimum severance. A decent silver lining, clearly they want people to take the money and go quietly.

Looking at the severence plan, it appears that if you are laid off between October and December, you are eligible for your bonus severence and payment will be calculated based on your bonus target multiplied by 50%.

Is this saying that if your position receives bonuses, you will receive 50% of target?

Severance policy is in IRIS and was updated Oct 2023–all current employees have access to it.

The severance package is the same for everyone, two weeks of pay for every year that you worked for the company. They will subsidize your health insurance during the severance period. If you want to stay on insurance after that, you pay 100% of the cost. Also, Cigna will not negotiate severance. Everyone gets the same standard offer.

I'd say maybe pick sharing either what part of the business OR what you're getting for severance. Putting the two together makes it easier for any Cigna snoops on here to identify who it is that's posting. Stay safe y'all and don't do anything that loses those severance payments!!
