If this article is anything to go off on, we all might as well start looking for other opportunities.

For me, the best carrot at the end of the stick would be ending RTO for Medicare Employees with promise that HCSC would keep any remote Medicare employee as "remote". For that reason alone I would stay. I can easily find a higher paying job locally, but it would require me to go into the office. I'm trying to avoid the hassle a commute and wasting hours of my life stuck in traffic.
I wonder if they will issue retention bonuses for the Medicare employees. It will take at least a year for a closing to occur once they announce. And I’m not even sure the promise of a retention bonus is more beneficial than just finding a new job. Ugh
The question to ask is why Cigna is layoffing employees in Medicare? Why Medicare? What do the executives and hedge fund manager know that we don't know? Think about about...why Medicare? Medicare is the senior citizen medical plan.
This wasn't a leak, and anyone who says it was is NOT in a position to know. A link to the article was in the executive summary email we get every morning, and anything that goes out in that email is vetted from top to bottom. The possible sale was only kept quiet until after the 2Q earnings call which did drive the stock price up several dollars only to be knocked back by sale news going public.
🤣 who said the article was a lie? 🤣 Seriously who?
MA is another example of why everyone realizes that the executive team is full of cr-p. They have directors and managers watching the clock for how much time they are in the office. Pathetic. People are treated like id--ts. VPs are weak. They are bossy and tactical, and the worst ones are micromanaging losers.
They are selling MA because all of those loser execs making millions couldn’t get their heads out of the sand to make it successful. In response, they design a tortured layoff plan phasing it out. And then they talk about stress reduction 🤣.
Management told us the article was false. I work in the MA department and was told we are safe from tomorrow's layoffs (we shall see). But after the last round of layoffs we were told that cigna will never openly confirm anything because they are a publicly traded company and can't say anything that might impact their stakeholders. So basically they lie to them too until things are officially done. So because of that, they'll never ever be honest with us.
It's been an emotional roller coaster the past year. Being told that I won't be remote anymore despite being hired as remote many years ago. Seeing many of my Medicare coworkers let go throughout the year. Hearing about current and future layoffs. Now finding out that my line of business I work for might be sold off. I don't have the words to describe all the emotions I feel, but it's all negative.
Has management responded to this?
Not so far. They usually take the approach of the British monarchy and say nothing unless things get real dicey
As Ric Flair says... WOOOOO!!! Things are getting wilder and wilder. I got out a couple weeks ago, but still following the saga very closely. Good luck to all. Get those resumes out there, the market is tight. Took me 6 months and a ton of applications.
Has management responded to this?
This is a mess, with this news, so many Medicare employees will begin to check out and leave. With hiring freeze in place and no one to backfill important positions, key operational and compliance knowledge will walk out the door or be laid off. When it's all said and done with whatever this sale is, Cigna Medicare will be a shell of it's former self full of non-compliance and corrective actions.
I just got verification that Cigna is having a layoff on 11/9 with another round in early Feb.
If Cigna dumps MA onto Anthem, I would expect 40%ish of MA employees to be cut loose by the end of year 1.
What happens if we get sold? Will the majority of MA get laid off or will the majority transition over to the buyer? Any thoughts?
it depends on the buyer so it's really up in the air at the moment.
What happens if we get sold? Will the majority of MA get laid off or will the majority transition over to the buyer? Any thoughts?
What happens if we get sold? Wethe maority of MA get laid off or will the majority transition over to the buyer? Any thoughts?
It’s all starting to make sense:
Even if you’re not affected by this latest round beware.
I wonder if Cigna will address this or ignore this for as long as they can.
Cordani's Drive to 25 = getting rid of Medicare.
Cigna in 2023 from an employee point of view
This is a sh!t company with a horrible CEO.
So is it safe to say the 11/9 layoffs will significantly impact the Medicare side of the business?
Well, cr-p. My spidey instincts regarding the purpose of the creation of the DMOM office were correct.
Given the litany of leadership changes (most notably the departure of Aparna), organizational restructuring, and the recent $172M False Claims Act settlement around incorrect MA codes, this comes as no surprise.
What has management’s response been to this “leaked” article?
Well now I officially no longer care to work hard for that bonus.
This was a leak and wasn’t supposed to be public
So are you saying it’s true?? Do you know more? Should we be looking for other jobs?
Cr-p, if things weren't already bad enough. I'm accelerating my job search.
This was a leak and wasn’t supposed to be public
Holy sh*t. I’m speechless.
