Anymore layoffs in 2023?

Anymore layoffs coming this year or not till next year? Does the company layoff before or after holidays?

Optum has less regulations and lays people off all the time (or sends them overseas). UHC is usually in Q3 or Q4. PHE ended, government debt is high, and Medicare is tightening the belt so I've seen a lot of layoffs at UHC the past few months. I was laid off in August. Some people I still keep in contact with are being laid off 12/1.

Yes, dec 2019 was a big layoff. Some rumors about dec 7 this year. We'll see.

This company would tie layoffs up in a nice little bow and have them waiting under the tree on Christmas morning if they could.

That said, I have not heard any rumblings behind the scenes about more layoffs in 2023.

I worked there for 6 years and was present during 3 rounds of layoffs. Its always starts late Sept and ends mid December. Every single time after staff struggled to keep up the workload they rehired new people within 4-6 months at a higher pay than existing employees. And refused to adjust pay for current staff- they called it a perk of being a new hire you get a new market analysis of pay.

Optum layoff forum posted 11-09. Leaders taking PTO 11-10. Wait and see.. should not be a surprise .. now class action suit looming on WARN act violation .. regardless of the outcome. The only “proactive measurement”taken by the leaders is reactive after the facts.
