What is the best advice you can give to all Pioneer employees?

Agree with the no relocation, keep house and family intact.
Get a couple of work friends and rent an apartment together to reduce living expenses for the work week.
Do not choose roommates that you directly work with because in EM you will be forced into competing with each other and apartment together would become awkward.
Stay the hex away from BR as well!
My advice is dont sell your house and uproot your poor family to come live in this overpriced s@#%hole. Leave them behind in tact. Rent a small apt. across the street for in office days, and go back home to family on the weekends, holidays, vacations, special events, etc. After a few years, if you still like XOM, in office requirements still exist, and the neighborhood is ok for you, then by all means, relocate.
Get a job in Development Planning, find a Sponsor, jump from assignment to assignment taking credit for work of others, jump off project if something going wrong. Learn and use all Buzzwords. Master Powerpoint and Bubblecharts.
Avoid La Quinta on Thursday mornings.
How many of these commenters even work at EM. They’re all referring to older processes during high layoff seasons during the pandy. On the doll, point to where XOM touched and hurt you and get over it.
Best advice, "Keep your resume up to date and learn everything you can, especially technical training"?
Managers without subject matter technical skills are a dime a dozen in the 21st Century.
Bend over often and don't forget to grab your cankles.
Welcome to the the most toxic snake pit you might ever experience. If you stick around long enough to get past 55, they will force retire you after blackmailing you with NDAs. We are ExxonMobil.
One best thing I can tell Y’all: RUUUUUUUUUUNNNN!!!!!!!!
@1rzk+1psM3wNg is completely correct about the EM system.
Maybe could mention 8% mandatory layoff based on ranking each year and also you will be expected to constantly correct work produced in India and upon getting that Indian work package finally correct, India will get all the credit and your job.
Keep in mind, the posters here aren’t even representing the ranking system correctly…they are talking about a system from 3-4 years ago.
So if you cannot move on from ‘past wrongs,’ you’ll clearly struggle….as demonstrated by prior posts.
And as for the ranking system, having an employer tell you that you fit into 1 of 5 performance buckets each year is pretty standard. Understanding that not everyone can be in the top performance bucket is also pretty standard. Favoritism and human bias through any sort of yearly assessment is also quite commonplace (though admittedly unfair); suspect you’ve seen it before.
You only need to really worry about staying out of that lowest performance bucket….where things can get pretty harsh and discretionary given that the company is clearly trying to reduce and outsource headcount.
So 90-95% of the employees need to go through an annoying annual assessment, where they may be told they are (gasp) average but still appreciated. 5-10% each year end up in an uncomfortable category….but a lot of employees have developed a backup plan for that scenario.
@2kgy+1psM3wNg your assumptions or interpretations are misguided! XOM employees genuinely feel sorrow for you being subjected to this mess!
Pro tip: grab your ankles and cough. It’s going in dry. La Quinta style.
You exxon people believe pioneer employees can’t navigate a toxic work environment and dirty politicking. You are in for a surprise.
@1zjm+1psM3wNg Lol not really. Someone overseas is lined up to take both our spots anyway.
PIONEER PEOPLE READ WHAT @1rzk+1psM3wNg WROTE BELOW VERY CAREFULLY ! That's exactly what will happen to you at XOM.
Sounds like EM people on campus scared a Pioneer person will take there spot 🤭
You may have a cohesive productive successful team of 10 persons at merger time. All equally contributing to team success.
First you must rank them from 1 to 10 and are instructed to fire the one you put on the bottom every year.
Second the remaining 9 team member start competing, and not cooperating. You are required to rank them 1 to 9 and fire the bottom 1.
Third EM sends in 2 chosen high fliers that do not know your work and they only do PowerPoint. You now must rank team from 1 to 10 and receive a phone call instructing that the 2 chosen id--ts are ranked 1 and 2.
Fourth you are instructed to fire bottom 2. You only have 6 productive team members and 2 chosen id--ts so now instructed to move work to India and strong arm your oldest employee into choosing retirement.
This is the EM way
Keep your resume up to date and compare Pioneer benefits to ExxonMobil benefits along with salary and bonuses.
Caution if staying at La Quinta during relo.
OP, do yourself and your family a favor and DON"T COME HERE. This is a huge disaster for employees. Backstabbing. Protecting the chosen ones at the expense of the employees that get things done and keep them running. Lots and lots of bullshlt about We are ExxonMobil, fake innovation, we win together, we care about our employees and the rest of the sh-t. Lots and lots of money for the investors but zero dollars for maintenance of our facilities. The big bo-m is coming. And, you will be NSIed upon arrival. I don't know how else to say it GET THE HECK OUT OF HERE. It's for your own good. You've been warned.

Take the package. It's more toxic here than you can imagine. Completely ridiculous.

Talk to XTO guys. You really don't want to get involved with EM. Move on first, if you can. If not, stay out of campus, it really su-ks.
Run!
Start viewing and treating your colleagues as competitors.
Forced Ranking is brutal and firing target of 8% annually is like salt on the open wound.
Obtaining a good sponsor has far more value than good performance.
Take the package from Pioneer and go somewhere else
Get ready for a major culture change. Remember EM will always apply the FIFO method (i.e. Fit in or Fvck Out... :=) ). Give yourself 6 months to find out if you can fit in, if not, then you know what to do....
Bad luck, you were PIP, NSIed on 2020 from EM at Permian. If you are not selected to leave make them pay what they did to you, and another Job.
Look for a new job NOW!
@OP Don’t take career/legal advice from the internet, especially this part of it.
Update your resume and always by applying and interviewing at other companies
