VMware person here. After the many botched and overpriced acquisitions done at VMW on PG's watch, he is in no position to criticize any other executive's mistakes. Most overrated CEO we ever had, and I feel for you folks at INTC.

IFS is a financial scam rather than a strategy to stock investors that believe in it. Two or three years later in the road you will find out it will be similar to China housing rip off.

Intel can execute all it wants and deliver the four nodes and be first to technology leadership. They can build the big shells in Arizona and Ohio and get the first high NA EUV and surely Pat will scream and rejoice about Intel being back.
The layman gullible will rejoice and have no clue technology leadership doesn’t result in commercial or business leadership and success.
Intel will fail spectacularly and be bankrupt as IDM and IFS is FUBAR flawed strategy for the current Intel

I have been at VMW in a customer facing role for well over a decade and have never once personally heard this "recommended" from anyone that I worked with. However, I have heard customers discussing CPU options with their sales engineers and other technical contacts from VMW. That being said, it is a large company and there very well could have been other employees who have said that.
