Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Echo Chamber

Everyone knows that thelayoff is an echo chamber, right? Look at the views of the posts. The ideas here are statistically very small to the size of the company. Too small to know how the average feels.

I think it's safe to say most are bothered by the delay and tired. However, the doom and gloom prediction that is tossed around, the everything is falling apart escape while you can narrative. Statistically is not representing enough of the employee base to be creditable. Not say it is or isn't true, there's not enough information here to know. But for the few people on here seeing that everyday and internalizing it, it is only amplifying your own anxiety. It can become a self fulfilling prophecy.

Take caution that you aren't creating your own monsters. Watch out that you're not being quick to accept something because it aligns with your subconscious biases.

Things are objectively bad at VMware right now. People have no idea what's going on or if they'll have a job a month or two from now. This is true for the majority. Of course people will come to one of the few places where they can vent around others who are in the same position as them. Reading a lot of posts with similar sentiments is to be expected. I honestly don't understand what's your issue with this. And if you think there is no reason to feel that way, then what are you doing here? I can't understand what somebody who is happy with their job and secure about its future would be doing on the site for layoffs and venting about a company?

It's unfortunate that comments on here are relayed to Slack, making others think that there are common sentiments. And, worse, picked up by news reporters to publish things to make doom and gloom sound credible.

Then again, look at the people here begging for the deal to fall apart and for VMware to crash and burn. Cut off your nose to despite your face.

C’mon. What about those of us who simply like a good chuckle? Don’t over think this. We have time to dabble into many things, given our situation.

@iym+1ppnf4qb. So you are one of the few dozen that you are complaining about?

It is the same as anything, it is mainly those on the fringes that make the most noise. People who are content or got offers are probably mostly silent. It is those who haven't received an offer or are generally whiny f**ks to begin with are doing most of the posting. If you look at the context of the posts, it's not hard to see that it is probably less than a few dozen doing all the posts.
