I've heard stories of people being laid off within a year of relocating in the past, is this true? Why would anybody accept to relocate if it is?

They did something similar 5 years ago, on a small scale. People lost their jobs after moving.
that was specifically asked and the answer was, "I don't want to call it a layoff after you move, but the company may "optimize" positions". So, No, you're NOT guaranteed to keep your job once you've pulled up your family and moved. Sad..
The go into detail on this on the FAQ on connect. There's some kind of severance or something for the first two years if you move.
No
Looking at those prices of homes north of the Katy Tollway, it’s almost a given that your first year would be a town home rental…that gives more of a cushion to allow time for your spouse to seek a job. In the event Crown goes thru a 3 layoff round Q1 2024, you can move out of Houston and migrate to another part of the country where housing and cost of living is more reasonable
@ots+1ppNJEw9 Yeah but unfortunately, lots of people won’t have as good of an option if they don’t move so
No company can guarantee employment. It’s always a risk.
Of course not. Unless you've been really wanting to move to Houston, it's a super risky move.
