Gearing up for yet another round of layoffs in Q1 2024. Sr Mgt confirmed 1/17/24; a Manager I was to be offered a role with had to pull a requisition back due to layoff advisement at senior levels of their area. This is to be company wide. Layoffs every quarter consistently it feels like. UHC / Optum has been able to skirt the WARN act law, because it's state based not company based. So the mass layoffs of 22-25% of the company have to be by state to be out of compliance. Because they're not by state, UHC gets away with it. (That is directly from Department of Labor.) Additionally - watch out for mass hiring events to be conducted afterwards, just like they did in late Q3/early Q4 2023. 3 Remote hiring events and Job Fairs were published on job search platforms, and sent out to many job seekers via email. Literally a punch in the face.
I read on the WARN act and it's to warn the public in 1 location gererally, like a plant closure. UHG has thousands of employees scattered all through out the country and makes sure they don't cut more than 20% of their workforce in any 1 location. The lawsuit filed will go nowhere.
Please read all of the WARN info here, and copy this to your desktop and share it with all friends and family, regardless of which company they work for

Not to mention moving jobs outside of USA to enable “leaders” to pocket more stock options/bonuses! $18M was what the top guy made this last year. Salary ratio of top dog = 300%+ of average employees salary!
Pure greed pretty much summed it up! It’s not about “we care” sadly!
Ref Santa Clause letter - you are probably correct this org is accustomed to using $ to grease some legislators. The average folks will for sure bring enough publicity/transparency to the public - awareness how unethical of their business practices.. maybe will bring about the truth how a single judge (enabler) could veto DOJ’s attempt to enforce anti trust laws? Allowing this org to knock off all their major competitors like Change, Humana etc..
that will go exactly nowhere. the warn act is a letter to santa claus that was only made by politicians to make people feel good. it's not actually enforceable.
