Weird HR email - Living in Uncertain Times? Anyone else get it?

Very peculiar, given the current circumstances.....first of three sessions.

OK is this place getting weirder and weirder? Are they impervious to the current climate?

Or is this a not so subtle hint "you're next?"

Those sessions are already full. And unfortunately full of people who don't realize it won't address the RIFs. It doesn't matter if you go or not. It's gaslighting. They want you to feel more insecure than you already do and leave on your own. That's the game. Oh. And they also want to get awards for all the mental health programming they have. We have got to stop being hamsters.

@5tbp+1pp818bf. Corporate Comm has been impacted by the RIFs as well. Parroting the party lines is purely for self preservation purposes.

From the article on Pulse: "Uncertainty in the world today poses challenges for so many. Life demands, acts of violence, war, financial strain, inequity, are all taking their toll, leaving many with feelings of helplessness, anger, and disbelief."

Looks like the feeling of job insecurity was conveniently omitted from the list of uncertainties. The Kool-aid is real. There is no way corporate comms is that far removed from the pulse of the workers.

To answer your question: yes it is getting weirder and weirder. The disconnect between the happy talk and the reality is unreal.

I got that invite and declined it. So they sent it again, same time, so I accepted as tentative. Then they pushed it to my calendar as not optional. So that was weird, right?

@3wsu+1pp818bf I got both as well. The first one I selected tentative so I could join if my other meets were short. But the second invite I only see my name in the list of optional attendees.

Absolutely declined that one. Not mandatory and very apathetic considering the topics to be discussed

I never said Galina cared about associates. What I meant (I can see I wasn't clear), was that he probably didn't want to watch his empire crumble. I'm sure he doesn't give a rip about any of us. He's the one who shadily said "workforce optimization" during his pre-recorded town hall speech. Lame AF. I'm not sad to see him go. None of the ELT matter to me now.

I’d bet my salary that the living in uncertain times webinar says nothing about the RIF and focuses more on worldly happenings.

The top will never ever ever talk about what’s occurred/occurring

I don’t think it is a set up. Like others have said it just a way to say that they care about employees. It is not a three part series, it is one webinar that will be held at three different times so that people can attend. It will be ran by an external company that specializes in “work life balance consulting” and it requires you to register to attend any of the sessions. “Space is filling up” - sure guys

@ynu+1pp818bf. Well spoken. The 'asking for feedback' is some kind of sadistic joke.

Pre-recorded Town Hall? I noticed the glitches but thought it was connectivity issues. Are they all that way? Or just this past one? I felt it was in bad taste to have the Town Hall the day before those that were in the RIF were to have their final day. Either don't have it or push it back. Very insensitive for people to hear about the robust quarter the company had while they were packing their "bags".

What evidence do you have that Galina has not also been fully immersed in the sins of the company. This is a man who can talk about how well the company did for shareholders in the same breath as he talks about RIFs. He was golfing during the last town hall. That's why no one realized that their prerecorded bs messages on the townhall were buffering across the country for associates. That's how much they don't care. They phone in associate town halls. Galina doesn't give any more care about associates than any other ELT do. They are in it to pad their bank accounts and appease shareholders.

It's CYA and propaganda. "We care about you and your mental health."

How to say they bolstered morale after they annihilated it without acknowledging that they were the ones that annihilated it.

Agree with everything you said. Their lack of transparency about RIFs is astounding. There's nothing about it in the media and they gloss over it in town halls as "workforce optimization." I don't trust them one bit. I've completely lost faith in them. If you share your dissatisfaction on a survey, they'll just crack the whip on the managers below them. They don't really take it into consideration. No wonder JG is retiring. He probably lost faith too. Not going to stick around and watch it crumble.

The webinar series was sent to E something and up. Not everyone. It's the same type of series the chief learning officer (whatever that actually is) was doing once a month with different speakers. This is more pointed, obviously. And a response to complaints about the culture. Is it the right one....of course not. But they obviously continue to like their smoke and mirrors.

Releasing the invite the day of another RIF is tone deaf. I don't know who they have advising them on culture, but that person has probably been a "consultant" since college. Completely disconnected from the reality of working here which leaders continue to not want to acknowledge.

They're all about "asking" for feedback. They only want it if it's positive. In rare cases, like this webinar, they basically try to fain acknowledgement of their sins. They want to know what's wrong with culture. The ELT is what's wrong with culture. The toxicity is what they created. Best I can tell, any leader that has heart, Joe (pre Gail) or Dr Patel are pushed out.

I bet big G and little G know exactly what fear based culture they're driving. I think they put insane amounts of pressure on their directs who then trickle it down. It speaks to their negligence that the ELT never, ever acknowledges "workplace optimization" to associates and they continue to gloss over how much they bungled return to office. I don't think the Gs wake up every day and think about how ruin the lives of their associates. I actually think we don't even occur to them. I'm not sure at what level you lose your humanity and actual concern for other human beings, but boy is it fast tracked at ELV.

Perhaps they think by RIFing low level staff, they'll grow the medicaid population back because people can't afford to live. A word of caution to everyone, although anyone associated to operations can tell you. Pick another insurer. Once you leave this dumpster fire, if you have even a single other option either through social services, the marketplace or an employer, pick the other one. This ELT will be in place at least another couple years and the member and provider experiences will continue to suffer. They'll end up spinning off from Carelon once their shell game of Health Benfits and Health Solutioms paying Carelon for "services" blows up in their face. How investors haven't seen this disaster coming is beyond me. And when it does, the associates will suffer and the Gs and other ELT will fly off in their private jets and use their golden parachutes to land softly into a mcmansion somewhere.

Lol! (sort of)... Yup, got it too. I'm like, the only uncertainty we're feeling is the uncertainty of they're creating with these RIF's....
