Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Protect Yourself

The only way to protect yourself is to vote in a Union. Starbucks, Chipole, all these companies are doing it because Corporate does not care about you. HR does not care about you. When the CEO makes millions, everything is about money, not about you. Vote to Unionize. You think 300,000 employee vote to unionize they will listen. We need someone who will stand up for us and fight for us.

I am not a big fan of Unions but I don't see any other means. We need someone to look out for us while UHC looks out for their pockets. Will it be perfect, he-l no but at least we will have a voice. Better Pay, Better Benefits, Better Tools. A Union will get us there. Right now we are 100 voices speaking at the same time, a Union will take those 100 voicies and make them heard. HR is not on your site. A Union will address jobs going over seas, cost of living increases, inflation. Right now we don't have a voice, we are not being listened to. A Union may not be the saving grace but it will get us closers, it will allow us to he heard. I am tired of being ignored. Will the Untion protect the lazy people of course it will, but at the same time it will protect everyone else who works their butts off for this company. Lazy people will always be an issue but don't punish the rest of us because there are a few bad apples who will benefit. Start a movement, start a Union

Unions are the reason you’re not working 7 days a week, we have FMLA, unemployment and many other things. I’d love UHG to become Union. We would have FAIR wages.

Unions are terrible, they are not the solution! Unions protect the average and status quo at the cost of the above average and innovation. They are all about seniority and protecting themselves.

Not happy at UHC, leave, fine with me. Don't bring unions into this mess it will just get worse.

I think it's WAY higher than a few hundred. I recently talked to an SVP that was laid off and was told it was 8% of the entire company. That's 10s of thousands across the org...

How do you ‘vote’ in a union?

Job security and how well a company does is no longer linked. It used to correlate, but now the AI/Offshore strategies operate in parallel regardless of business outcomes.

I hate unions but I don’t see any options. This has turned into a swamp!

I do think it's wrong that UHG netted almost $6BILLION in profit for Q3 2023 while hundreds of people across the company were laid off.
