Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Contract work eligibility

I was just contacted for a contract position for 12 months.
I spoke to the recruiter and started to update her on my career (at T-Mobile) and mentioned tomorrow is my last day.

Nope, no go. She tells me I'm ineligible for 4 months. A 4 month 'cool-down' period.

Has anyone else run into this? All of my separation paperwork says I can return immediately to T-mo.

"It's always weird when you go back as a contractor.
I'm summary, it's not a fun experience."

Started as a contractor over a decade ago. Then they laid contractors off after I'd been there a year. Then I came back as a Freelancer (different "bucket" of money) for 3 years. Then came back as a contractor for 2. Now that I had made my total max 3 years contracting, they had to hire me.

Sure coming back again as a contractor would be weird. Especially no benefits like 401k. But money is money...still the best pay in KC. :(

"probably from some Broadway play."
Not a Scrubs (TV show) fan, huh?

It's always weird when you go back as a contractor. You'd like to think you're an employee again but your really not. No Benefits (including PTO), no salary increases, no promotions, and no opportunities to move within the company.

I'm summary, it's not a fun experience.

You should have lied, according to t mobile upper mgmt that is the right thing to do. They lied to Congress and to those who have been laid off. Anyways get out of telecom. 0 growth. I and many others will not buy home internet from t mobile. For me it’s because I can’t stand the two men in that stupid commercial probably from some Broadway play.

You CAN return to TMO anytime... as a TMO employee. You CAN'T work back at TMO as a contractor until 120 days have passed. Specifically stated in the separation documentation.

It's literally stated in the FAQs of the severance doc. You can't work for a T-Mobile contractor until 4 months after your separation date. People saying lawyer up are id--ts.

Have not heard of this as there is no non compete clause when you are laid off.
