Anyone else hear the rumor regarding a Frontier Merger with Windstream? And the new CEO, Paul Sunu was brought on so he could finalize the deal before the end of the year?
Wonder if that’s true and what would happen to us, Windstream Employees.

Nope. No mergers. Plus Windstream’s techs just went to salesforce and they get paid for doing absolutely nothing when their board is empty! One of those guys was showing me two SAs that he was just going to incomplete at the end of the day. This was while we were in a bar for lunch, for two and a half hours. Seriously I’m hoping I can dump my labor intensive copper career for the laid back life of a Windstream tech!! Color me green with envy.
Zayo deal already fell through. Why do you think we changed CEOs?

Most likely, the ILEC Windstream would merge with Frontier if anything, but Frontier is basically bankrupt.
Then, Zayo would purchase Windstream CLEC and Uniti. A Windstream split is pretty much guaranteed given they are separating all the support teams up to ILEC and CLEC.
Zayo has zero interest in purchasing Windstream if it includes the ILEC side because they do not have any bargaining employees now, and absorbing an ILEC would be too painful for them.
Depends on what part of Windstream you associate with.
I haven’t heard any actual rumors but yeah thats one of the first things that came to mind. Not sure about the timeframe though. End of the year seems awfully tight.
Elliott owns a big stake in Frontier. I've heard rumors of a Frontier merger pretty much since we exited bankruptcy.
There was also a rumor that Zayo was going to buy Windstream AND Uniti, and put it all together, except the asking price was out of line. Way out of line.
