I quit giving when I realized Centene didn't give the matching dollars to the charity of my choice, but instead gave it to United Way. The next year they quit pretending and just stopped allowing you to give to anyone other than United Way. No thanks. Not partaking of that nonsense. United Way's overhead is way too high for my liking, and nobody I know has ever received assistance from them, despite asking when in very difficult circumstances. I'd rather give my hard-earned money to a smaller non-profit who actually uses it for the mission in which they advertise.

They use it as a tax write off and we get 4 hours only if your group reaches at certain percentage.
Why can’t I just donate directly?
If it’s all about giving - why should it matter if I do it through work or do it at home?
