So frustrated with the decision making the higher ups make, like why cut devs and engineers that give the company revenue? Why not cut cost on the FSS side? Mainly the security and facilities folks? Like facilities NEVER fixes anything, they just do temporary fixes that do more harm than good! I don’t know how many times I’ve heard “It’s a known issue, we are working on it” and that same issue is still not fix a year later….. and that issue could just be something minor as a broken toilet…
And don’t get me started with Security! All they do is sit at the front desk, watch movies all day, and occasionally get up to play IT for those broken kiosks that probably cause an arm and a leg to work like dog s**t. Most those security folks are lazy plus give attitude when some of us ask for temp badges when it’s their department refusing to give employee badges for people who work from home and need to be on site here and there. Like sorry you actually have to work like the rest of us and miss out on what ever show you are watching.
What a waste of money, yet they are cutting hard working devs and engineers that actually give to this failing company…

At least I know what department I need to talk to when I need to bet on a game. tech is replacing you folks and it should be. Sitting and watching a monitor is child’s play and an AI can easily do that. Innovation and productivity is not your forte. Just a warm body that should be replaceable with technology. There is a reason people trust door ringers over any security guard walking around on their phones and sleeping against walls.
So many of you are disturbed individuals with obvious mental issues and are not fit to be at ViaSat. This forum goes to show how those who got laid off really deserve it and are a danger to the company. Some of you are very emotionally unstable and can’t accept you have to find another job now. No wonder the BOLO list keeps growing… Keep blaming security because you couldn’t innovate and be productive. We are essential workers who still had to come in during covid while most of you sat at home and still found ways to complain. Disgusting behavior blaming the people who protect you, how dare you?
I think the why is obvious. Engineers, especially old ones, make a lot of money and it is a huge cost savings to cut them if you think about them primarily as a cost center.
The better question is why do we make massive cuts like these without looping people managing projects that they may want to survive these cuts.
I hit up some peeps in security and they let some people go also
FSS is filled with nepotism hires, most of them have a family member up higher in the organization. Some are diversity hires.

FSS needs to at least be examined more closely, they are just like a cut that is constantly bleeding out cash

Pretty sure I heard security cut 3 of their own last month? They probably new the RIF was coming so they cut their own first to prepare?
Not to mention… the executive layer itself is bloated and should be cut in half.
