Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Termination week is here

Transition time ends this week and official termination is on Friday.

Not a surprise. TMO is just fine without me and the other 5,000 or so people. No calls from former co-workers, no check-ins from former manager that was not impacted.

Just gone

It feels a lot like a breakup with someone that moved on.

Lesson for those that remain. Keep working just for yourself. You are indeed a line item that can be deleted at any time.

Good luck to all.

That's Corporate America for you.

You really shouldn't be surprised by that, unless you've never been through layoffs before.

In the old days, the good old days, the company would have gatherings and some sushi of Buffalo Wings to say good bye nowadays, you become the guy or gal's name that shouldn't be mentioned. I hated my job but hung around to be with the team its interesting, I too, have been ghosted by my buds and the day after the meeting with the Director, ghosted by managers. I guess its not the company's fault for this, I take it as I didn't belong there and maybe I was hurting the team. Life goes on. When can I file for unemployment? My final day of working for TMOBILE or the last day they pay me? I keep hearing that people said file now so theres no gaps. Let me know, thank.
Maybe someone should start a Facebook group so that the dumped can keep in touch. :)

There never has been any blanket communication about layoffs inside T mobile. Ever. The philosophy is they're gone figure it out.

Hello folks. I am really sorry for how the process made you feel.

I wanted to let you know that there was no blanket communication to the leftovers about who was let go. In some cases, we are still finding out that longtime friends were impacted. The only way I am finding out is when I go to send an email, or Slack and get bounce backs. I am trying to reach out to friends when I find out, but I still don't know who I might have missed. It is a sad truth.

I also want to thank all of you for your work at Sprint and/or TMUS. You all had a role in making the company that is left, and I appreciate what you did. I wish you well, and thank you for all contributions.

Yeah. It su-ks. 15 years boiled down to two brown boxes.

I used to be emotionally invested with my old Sprint team. I worked for the team, not the company.

The new team never coalesced. Between covid and the remote leadership of our team, our side really was just there for the first 3 transactional years of the merger. Never meant to be part of the team, despite the 'love' and 'hugs' and 'miss seeing you' our director dished out. KC club was finally cut, 5 remain with the majority of Bellevue in place.

I was on leave, so It wasn't hard to say goodbye remotely. It made for a cleaner cut. But it's still weird to have been part of something so long, to invest in relationships, ideas...projects. And everything goes 'poof' in one afternoon.

Good luck in your next adventures, all!

Not to be insensitive, but that organization was excessively large. The company used to promote people based on the number of people they managed, thanks to stupid Marcus #DigitalDNA nonsense. The reason no one reached out is because people aren't recognizing the downside of having fewer people. It's time to move on and stop being bitter. If you don't like your swag, consider donating it to charity.

Not being insensitive...don't get stuck. Have all the feelings...for a while, then move on. It's a good thing to process through the BS, disruption, fake "friends". Your feelings are real, valid.

In your next opportunity, do your best BUT NEVER FORGET...jobs, not careers (that is the lie they want people to buy into), are transactional. Everywhere. Make sure your "be ready plan" is finely tuned.

I can say for certain, when your love of lazy Sunday's returns, without that ugh pit in your stomach? You are on your way. Take care, intentionally, but move on.

Got canned in the first August wave. My manager AND director both said "We'll be in touch" as they hugged me goodbye.
Then, they both ghosted me completely.
Must have been some order from on-high to sever all comms.
Reapplied for some open reqs, standard string-along, then the same standard "feedback" given, as they are too cowardly to say "Hey we actually just picked someone who wasn't you."
Happy to have closure and to know that I'll never set foot in there again.

I have until November 7th. But I agree. I've had a couple of calls from co-workers but my boss who was supposed to "check in with me" never did. But they were worthless anyway so...

Well, my time of finding out that I was done was 10:30am. The time at which my T-Mobile t-shirts became shirts to mow the lawn in and paint the house in was about 11am.... Gave me just enough time to process what was happening, briefly read the separation agreement and go change into my new 'get dirty while working' shirts.

Do we sign the severance agreement manually or digitally? Will it just show up in workday on 11/2?

I stopped by a corp store and gave them a box of all my swag.
Tumblers, shirts etc.
Even my signed copy of cook book that I won in some contest.
The atmosphere was odd and gloomy.

Oh and ported my number to Visible for now.

"I am planning to stop by the local retail store and officially close my account"

Do NOT close your account, else you are surrendering your phone number(s). Just open a new account with whichever competitor you want and your T-Mobile account will be closed when they port-in your numbers.

Those that remained were told not to contact or reach out.
They want you to dwindle away like a dead leaf in autumn.
There time is coming…….a year. Maybe 2 but it’s coming before they too get laid off.

I for one am glad no one reached out. I have had a wonderful 60 days without thinking once about my old job or the work they had to complete that was on my plate. As a final act, I am planning to stop by the local retail store and officially close my account, and transfer my lines to a competitor so I have no need to ever log into or visit T-Mobile again.
