Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Fire scanner

Fire the scanner specialist. All he does is sit in the office & take up space. “Pretends” to work on fixing a scale or computer. Takes down signs we put up. I can print my own g-d d tags.

If your SSS is a bully email leadership and save the email to document you voiced your concerns. Cc your team members service person so they cant deny that you brought it to store leaderships attention. If they retaliate against you that is a big no no. Good luck dont back down there are plenty of reatail jobs out there.

The one at our store curses us out everyday because he hate doing his job. Scan signs, make signs and fix scales. He sits in his office and complain about how he makes signs nobody put out. How it's not his responsibility to fix the scales. But it's literally nothing else he do. He has a set schedule 7-3 mon-fri. Sits in the office 3/4 of his shift and do whatever the he-l he wants. As an order writer for prepared foods I do all of that and make less than him

Given the companies history, SSS has been changed multiple times, gotten rid of and then brought back. It’s incredibly possible that the position will be eliminated especially given the amount of marketing work that falls on us now VS the SSS. Just in the past 2 years they stopped requiring SSS to hang some marketing signage and that falls on us now. The writing is on the wall. Try reading their daily note tasks… it tells you exactly what their role is in marketing and what ours is. It’s not their fault that they don’t have much to do anymore, they are likely literally doing their job. WHEN they do end the position the responsibilities will fall on the teams and we will not get additional labor to support it, it will be a “just get it done” scenario. Let them enjoy the last few months they have and see where the role takes them. cheers!

The SSS should be the least of store leadership worries. Even if they cut the position do you think they would give the labor to teams? You people are delusional they will continue to cut down everyone at store level regardless of the SSS position. Take the help the SSS offers and quit your bi--hing. If you want to be angry or annoyed with anyone it should be at the global level or your STL/ASTLs.

To the TL, SSSs are instructed not to hang tags. Their sole purpose is to audit. If they hang tags they are being a crutch for the underperforming team and auditing themselves. Auditing the sales, marketing and weights & measures is their sole purpose.

Everytime STL group would cut my hours I would call in a false report to W&M and wouls come in to do an offical state audit. After that the STL would leave me alone.

As a former TL and ASTL I can only say this: HANG TAGS, MAKE SIGNS, GET THERE EARLY AND HELP OUT!!!!! Nobody cares about your audits. Seriously, from leadership down!!! Help out out and the audits will all pass!!!!

The SSS job description on the companies website has literally been wrong for years. It still says they report to the data tam and provide support for IRMA,DVO, etc. Since the regional data team was laid off literally no one in this company even understands what the position is. It's just kind of sliding under the radar at this point.

Literally no action is taken by regional or store leadership based on the results of the SSS audits. You can find errors on every audit and no one is held accountable. I used to be an SSS and found errors everywhere. I constantly went above and beyond to help teams but they always had the same excuses. I reported data issues that I found to regional and they took weeks to fix. It's not a hard job but it's a thankless job dealing with people making the same excuses week after week. It's time to get rid of the position and let the department of weights and measures and the FDA find the issues and fine the stores.

The SSS team should be dissolved, actually. Their main function, it seems, is to keep team members who aren't doing their jobs from being held accountable. This isn't as much a slam on the product teams as it might seem. In fact, the SSS team allows the company to hide labor. Better that the product teams be actually allowed to staff up based on the actual work that needs to be done. The teams are supposed to print and hang their own tags, and to open Orchard tickets and work with the remote support staff to troubleshoot tech issues. The SSS team does little else but enable teams to shirk those responsibilities. I'm sure they don't want to lose their jobs any more than anyone else, but it's an unhealthy and dysfunctional situation. I say, get rid of them and give the labor to the teams. But you know that's now what will happen. The team will be eliminated and the company will pocket the difference -- or rather, it will help offset diminishing profits. They they will outsource a company to come in and do audits and score the product teams on Weights and Measures compliance, but only so they can claim that they are in compliance. In truth, it will be a bare minimum effort. I say this as an ex SSS who absolutely sat on his a-s all day, listening to Howard Stern and playing video games and NEVER actually performing accurate audits. No one ever noticed because the audits I submitted were routinely ignored by store leadership. Hey: it's great to have a job that the stores are forced by law to have but the stores don't support. It was great while it lasted, but it was also crazy making. I'm glad to be finished with it.

If you are asking for anyone to be let go it should be all the dead weight up top.

The amount of mistakes the teams make with pricing or just not putting tags on new products is very high. Its a support role to ease the burdens on teams to not have to worry as much and they can focus on pushing product.

Do you mean the SSS, Store Scanning Specialist? It sounds like if he is working on a fixing a scale or computer he is doing more that he should be doing. It is your job to open an orchard ticket and trouble shoot the device in question not the SSS. It is actually your job to take down signs you put up and tags that your print, not the SSS. The SSS primary function is to audit the store but if Team Members cant even figure out who to turn on a computer then the SSS has to assist. You sound like someone who will be a lifer at Whole Foods and put product out for the public. Yes, I did work for Whole Foods and had to deal with team members like you cant figure out who to open a simple Orchard ticket.
