Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Hitachi Digital Services

Not sure I follow all of this? https://hitachids.com/blog/global-reorganization-to-strengthen-synergies-leveraging-ot-and-it/

Sounds like they are splitting legacy Vantara/HDS and the solutions/services/HCC again? Funny the references to generative AI... to me it feels like Hitachi is behind the curve as usual... chasing IoT, then cloud, now generative AI but shrinking/losing every step of the way.

It's a mess internally. We're letting go people who've been with the company 10+ years and having trouble hiring at all in our department as a result of the new company.

Looking for lifeboats, personally.

Bain and Company have been here and asking a lot of questions. Bain = Layoff. So, yes, layoff season is here.

The marriage HDS and HCC was never great.
The divorce signal started with splitting Hitachi Vantara in 2 BU’s: Digital Infrastructure (DI) and Digital Solutions (DS).
Now the divorce is a fact.
Hitachi Digital Services has no sales leader on the executive level. So I may assume they will invest in Sales headcount to generate revenue.
If that happen, it will be financed by reallocating HC costs from Hitachi Vantara to Hitachi Digital Services. And yes, then you can expect layoffs in Hitachi Vantara. Hitachi Vantara should be lean to contribute to profit in a low margin, high volume business. AI buzzword etc is needed to keep the pace and keep a fair share in the storage market. All hands on deck for the new CEO and her team to give the sales a very competitive product where they can take marketshare again. I the mean time. Keep loyal customers happy.

New CEO .. this ALWAYS means layoffs at HV. For as long as they have been around that has happened every time. Usually within the first 3 months.
Mark your calendar, it's going to happen.

I'm sure they don't follow it either. Moving the pieces around on the chess board for accounting advantages for the Hitachi Ltd. for write offs and/or positioning to sell off pieces later.
