Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Layoffs hitting AST

We are going to get hit pretty hard by the sounds of it. Leadership already let us know it is coming.

AST is far too overpaid and far lacking the knowledge in the work that they steal from other areas to try and remain relevant. They are band C employees trying to do the work of band 3 employees and they don't do it nearly as well as the band 3 employees that got laid off or moved to the vendor did. Should be no surprise that most of this area is being eliminated.

Agency Support Team (AST) supports agents grow and retain. However, the model is flawed and far too expensive to sustain.

AST advertises they can help agents with a variety of issues, which encourages them to skirt the chat support in place that resides with RMBC and ASIC. AST employees are EXEMPT Band B & C employees supporting agents with issues that RMBC & ASIC once did as non-exempt staff.

Interesting concept - if Allstate has already transitioned ASIC to a vendor and is in the process of moving more RMBC work to ASPL, that tells us that Allstate isn’t willing to pay US based non-exempts for this service work. No one should be surprised with AST’s fate - far too expensive and with the declining agency footprint, the need isn’t what it once was.

WTF is an AST? Been with the company for a decade and never heard of this area.

Kudos for being transparent. If true, One has to ask why it isn’t consistent across the entire organization. Leadership is earned everyday and not simply given because of rank.
