Thread regarding TransUnion layoffs

Typical RTO BS

During the town all we got the same garbage justification for RTO. There were so many angry comments about how the commute times and geographical dispersement of teams will do nothing for improved productivity which we all know is true. Leadership won’t address these concerns because they know there is no rational justification for it. It’s all about real estate value.

And given the tough earnings report it seems obvious to me they would love nothing more than for people to quit to avoid having to pay severances.

I did the Aflac process for an ADA qualifying disability, with a physician's recommendation. Aflac confirmed the disability qualifies under ADA and the accommodation requested is a reasonable one under the ADA. Passed that information over to TU HR. TU HR sent me a letter outright denying my request for an accommodation due to "insufficient documentation". That is not a response that the law permits... I am absolutely expecting HR/ ADA lawsuits to start coming through if this is how they are handling across the board.

Typical RTO BS has rolled into a hostile work environment by TransUnion leadership. They divided us with RTO and will divide us with geography. With all due respect to my colleagues in India, maybe you can call Venkat with your tech needs in the coming weeks.

HR is deliberately making it tough to get a change. From what I’ve heard, you need to file a claim with Aflac and get a medical note from a doctor stating that you have a medical condition that prevents you from being able to come to the office. I don’t think you can even get a change for a non-medical reason like saying your commute is too far. Just part of the grand scheme to get as many people to quit as they can.

What’s your work day looking like now? Most are making really long commutes and know their own demise is very likely. A real mindfck.

You get to waste 4 extra hours of your day, plus expenses, commuting to work and back, for no extra pay. You arrive in the office tired, with no docking station, no keyboard, no mouse, and then you have to "reserve" your spot just to remind you that it's not really your desk. You have to wait in line just to go to the bathroom, and if you have a meeting, you spend 10 minutes trying to find the room, waiting for the previous meeting to leave, and getting settled.

But OF COURSE it's more productive. Because people are "exchanging innovative ideas" as they pass each other in the hall. 🙄

@mqs+1ph7SLMz I think is 100% right. They refused to address all the outrage on the comments and then as tone deaf as they are posted an a--licking question from someone asking if they could time their RTO days to when the CEO was going to be in the office.

My take is that companies will realize that their top talent isn’t going to put up with it and will go where companies realize that being able to source the best talent regardless of location is what will make them stronger. And companies like TU give the same bogus reasons for it will end up with mediocre talent that is overworked and will deliver subpar solutions that ultimately hurt their reputation and market share.

Craziest part was the backtracking to political correctness on this one -> “The relation between stock exchange and economy is like a man walking his dog. The man walks slowly, the dog runs back and forth.”- Andre Kostolany

Been saying it for months, RTO is a way to do layoffs without officially doing them.
