Curious to hear if Tommy acknowledges the layoffs.

I’d love to know what sadist lays off a ton of people, then has a “Talent Show” in his meeting?? It’s like, “Avoid talking about the cuts, and distract the audience with Betty’s fire baton twirling, yeah, that will work!”
38 years..they did me a favor...pension...severance...retired...woo hoo!!
So much deflection from Tom and the gang. Addressing none of the concerns and talking about almost nothing of substance. Typical of a company on the way out with no plan to fix or save. We are all just riding the ship to the bottom of the ocean at this point.
That’s a convenient excuse. They should leave it open and have someone monitor it. Unless they laid off the person who can do that.
Chat was disabled due to anti-LGBTQ commentary in last meeting’s chat.
Regardless of what kind of meeting it was intended to be, the way it was handled is indicative of how disconnected the management seems to be.
In the past two weeks, the company has:
- Laid off 8% of its workforce. The number I've heard is 3,000+ across the company.
- Seen abysmal 3Q numbers projections.
- Had it come in Reuters that an activist investor has taken a position in the company.
What did Tommy discuss out of the gate?
- the situation in Gaza
- Bowing to the ESG extortion racket by emoting about DEI and how 'inclusion is our strength.'
Because that's what was on everyone's mind. Out of touch? You decide.
Then an hour long harangue about developing skills as employees. Which I believe was a veiled hint about the Coming of Nelson Peltz. Look at all these cool resources the company has for you to develop yourself. And ya better do it because when Trian figures out how badly mismanaged the company is, you're probably going to be out on your a-s. Since you the day to day employee are going to get punished for our poor management decisions, the least we can do is.....this. And we won't even force to you take the courses we think are important and put it on your review if you don't.
As if you needed further proof that our senior management lives in a bubble insulated from the consequences of their decisions:
- Chat and Q&A were disabled.
- The 'watch, learn, teach back' with the 'random volunteers' was all pre recorded and pre scripted.
Well, reality is going to insinuate itself on them here pretty soon. It's every man for himself. But then again...they have golden parachutes so they don't care.
This meeting was so poorly handled, all it did was further damage morale, IMHO. Another symptom of the sickness in our management.
Tom just puked out the same script from June 2020. And he did in a way speak about the RIF's as he encouraged self development, using Allstate resources, and building your picture of you....which I am sure was for resumes once they throw us all out on our duffs. Tom is the most ridiculous, incompetent poor excuse for a human being that I have ever had the displeasure of knowing about. The man is an ineffective stiff.
What a wimp Tom and the execs are. They failed to connect with the raw emotions of employees. Need a CAT team to handle the moral catastrophe.
If you use Allstate’s tuition reimbursement, will you have to pay it back if your job gets eliminated?
Same thing that happened and was said in 2020…almost word for word…
Waste of time, no time for questions, chat was disabled. There is was nothing addressed about our financial standing or potential for any layoffs
No different from the 2020 layoffs. Just ignore it, don't mention it, they'll forget about it.
We just laid off a bunch of people, we’re outsourcing all our work to India, our leadership is a mess, you’re all scared about losing your jobs to either outsourcing or AI…. But hey, how about that talent show in December? Everyone excited about that?! 😂 What a joke
This was a connections meeting not a townhall you id--ts
100,000 people in this country count on us for their financial well being…. Hmmm
Completely offended by them not acknowledging the layoffs. Don’t talk about transparency or being a leader if you can’t do the same.
Can Tom’s job be replaced with AI?
May get better results. Chat GPI given the task - run a major insurance company profitably without slashing employees - and… go!
Town Hall was Just about development. When is the next meeting....
This is exactly the same messaging before the first massive RIF in 2020. Develop your skills with all our great resources so Allstate doesn’t feel guilty when they cut your job.
Wilson is a PoS.
Lead from every seat. Unless you’ve been ejected from your seat!
They are sending a message. Learn and make sure you are doing self-development because many of us will be layed off!
Not even acknowledging that you just decimated this company is a inexcusable. He acted like everything is totally great. There are a lot of hurting people who just said goodbye to coworkers yesterday. Not addressing this at all is really poor leadership.
Dreadful
Was it stretching or group breathing exercises today? Have to fill the hour somehow and can’t risk taking questions
Wow. Weak leadership. Can't take the heat and can't address questions on everyone's minds.
Chat has been disabled.
Chat disabled, "not enough time for questions", Time throwing sh-t into the audience like he's fu--ing Oprah
No q and a just professional development
