This new one has a track record of about 2.5 years in each previous role.

Leaders either need too see the direction Story headed is wrong or will continue on speeding up the downward spin.
If you only sell what you want and not what the customer wants they go to other places.

Well the CTO hired him. Have you ever seen him on a video meeting. NOT Impressed. I'm sure this was done with Kate's approval, so ultimately it rests at her feet. Another incredibly bad hire by the Incompetent SLT. Or as she calls them "misfires".
He could spell AI and he previously worked with the CTO.... so he's qualified! NOT!

Wow! His longest job since 2007 was 4 years!? Most of his jobs since then are less than 2 years!? This guy hasn't stayed long enough anywhere he goes to have accomplished something... What an amazingly bad hire.

They always do.
These are likely younger technologists. Great ideas, cool tech ... but wrong place to even attempt to use it. Lumen hasn't figured out its DNA is 79, but it's acting like a 29 year old.
Most of the time they just build a few bridges to nowhere and never do realize how clueless they were about the current state of Lumen to begin with.
If they do realize enough of the big picture, they will leave.
