Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

They don’t want anyone to move.

They want you to “take” the severance but then start looking for work and find something else. Then they can deny you the severance because you didn’t work out the full transition period. Duh.

They also don’t want you to relocate for lower level positions. The fact that they don’t pay the employer’s portion of state and local taxes and they have numerous colleges in Houston that they can bring in new graduates to their BIP at really low wages.

Then they can get all of their people to join their mega-church and give back 10% so it can go back into the hands of the LN consulting firm for bringing in more money.

They do all of this under the guise of “severance packages” and “relocation assistance” so that they look good to the general public while making the company less costly for someone else to buy them out at a significantly higher stock price than what it is currently.

Many of you have said LN is inept. She is definitely not inept…but is pure evil.

From "I am a pretty good judge of character and the LN woman, is the biggest hypocrite I have ever met. That annoying voice in meetings so fake..."
Not so fast, go look up old videos of her "other endeavors" (None of which supposedly cause any conflict of interest in her position at Crown.... )they are similar demeanor.
An old term that would fit is "Stepford Wives", but more likely, heavy meds.

LN, fake voice, fake smile, hollow words. That's her in a nutshell.

Non-competes are generally no possible to enforce. The company would need to prove loss of revenue.

Here’s my theory.

The plan was to ALWAYS have a second round of layoffs. They used the first round of employees as a test to see what percent of people would actually be willing to move to Houston. Now that they have actual data showing that nobody is willing to uproot their homes and families for Crown they are openly inviting everyone. They can now confidently spin this off as a relocation effort instead of a mass layoff.

I agree with original post. Crown is banking on very few taking the package. It would be interesting to see what Crown would do by the next earning call if everyone chose to take the relocation package. The we would see how genuine JB really is with this offer. It's funny how unlikeable he has become. He used to seem like a nice person, but LN has probably rubbed off on him.

Also would love someone to ask DS if he could rank the following "assets" in terms of return on investment since inception:
Purple Park
Rapid machines
Enterprise Fiber
Digital Transformation (least $25 million wasted here)
2000 corporate drive

Someone has to ask at the in person all hands what are LN (head of HR) and JB working on today that's so important to prevent them from showing up and making Dan lead the meeting where a quarter of us left are being fired. Can't they fill up the PJ and at least fake it?

Non competes are unenforceable when the only comparable work available is with a competitor. Good luck to crown in bullying people to believe otherwise.

I was part of the last RIF where it was conveyed to you within weeks of your last day and if you follow their steps ( follow your managers directives, return company equipment on time and finish up your expense reports etc…you were seeing a one lump payment in your checking account for me was about six weeks from my August 25th last day….now as for correctness in the severance amount I can’t say it was correct…I didn’t care about nickels and dimes…I wanted out of this nightmare…I actually wondered for those who signed the same or similar no compete upon separation a few decades ago when I joined crown…and is Crowns legal team monitoring who has crossed the line

They're each probably getting plenty of perks from the city of Houston. I get if you grew up there but who would want to move into the heat, grid issues, violence and constant flooding. Gag

Actually LN is a bit inept and puts up a good show. I was involved in conversations with her and a small group working on one of her ideas.

She knew bits and pieces of the concepts, authors, and direction we were discussing like a cliff notes version or someone that had read the back cover page summary of a book.

Think about the leadership “Team of Teams” meetings. Those are discussed in General Stanley McCrystals book by the same title so it’s not an original idea, it was a cliff notes version of the real thing, and failed miserably because they were winging it not knowing the full concept.

It is really telling if you spend time asking questions about these concepts more in depth as you will not get correct answers a majority of the time.

Try it out at the next town hall meeting. What are the traits of a high performing team? How can we run effective team of teams meetings? How can leaders express empathy, humility, and courage with their team members?

It was quite shocking and telling when you dug deeper into the concepts she was discussing that it was very much surface level hence the leadership team jumping from one thing to the next.
