I was informed this week that I will no longer have a job in the next month and half. Yippee! Send me away with a smile, please! I'm ready for a change.

To the poster saying “plenty would volunteer for layoff and severance” 100% BS everyone talks big on the internet but when you’re having to comprehend what your next move will be to support your family because you’ve lost your income it su-ks. Yeah a severance will get you by a couple extra months but the economy, inflation and job market in banking isn’t great
It would be nice if they did a volunteer get laid off with severance sort of thing like some other companies do. Plenty would raise their hands and the ones that want to stay, can stay.
Laid off Union Bank employees were provided info in writing that if they are on layoff list recruiter will make decisions within 48 hours to move you forward or not. Within 5 days hiring manager will interview etc etc. Folks have waited months and given up.
Are these layoff Union Bank employees? I hear next month is when they let the Union Bank people know what their job title and pay will be starting 2024.
When you agree to stay for 1.5 months is there a retention bonus / better severance ? Have heard of this but only from client facing types.
The bank doesn't have a month in 2023 where employees were not laid off. No one, in any position should ever feel safe. Nothing will change in 2024.
This past week we had one person laid off in our group that came over from Union Bank. Don't think there will be others cut beyond this one person, but I guess can never be sure around here.
