UK person here. I'll be honest, I fully expect my current comp to go down (base + commission + car allowance) due to the way BC structure their bonus plan, paid annually) as well as the suggestion by BC people on this forum that BC bonuses don't always pay out at the expected rate. So, for me, that's already a 4 figure hit after tax every month, with the possibility of making some back a year down the line. Now, it's not all about the comp, so when it comes to the job itself and the customers I work with, my expectation is that BC will rip the soul out of VMware and do it fast, I am pretty sure I won't enjoy working for BC, so I expect I will take any offer that comes but with a view to leaving within months. That way, I can see what the real deal is, continue getting paid and start looking for roles elsewhere. There's a lot of talk about the RSUs and I think it has already been said on here that for UK and Ireland the tax regime means that even that an award of 100%+ salary equivalent just isn't worthwhile. I can expect no career progression and no base pay rises and to be focussed on just a few large accounts. Having said all that, if the offer is poor then that might be the kick up the ar-e I need to just walk away, life is too short and I should be working on my health, progress and happiness. The party is over at VMware, it was a he-l of a ride.
