Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

JB

Company is disgusting. They openly discriminate, to put unqualified people in management. It’s not what you know it’s who you..

@gyt+1pc1lIiE But they can pray for success? And money. That’s what LN’s side gig is about…making church leaders ridiculously wealthy. So opposite of what is taught in their bible. DS used his as a booster seat.

Those of you dragging women on here: you need to stop. And pick your knuckles off of the ground, too.

Agreed. They took "its not what you know but who you know" to a whole new level.

Everyone knows women are smarter! Just look at LN sinking this ship!

Not why they closed Canonsburg what tanked the place. BS doesn't know all the relations due to last names being different. In laws, cousins, aunts and uncles don't have the same last name. College roommates and high school friends dont. Polluted. The place was polluted. If one person felt threatened by you there was a whole web of people that would eventually come down on you. The place simply couldn't grow knowledge and processes because any new ideas or expression of experience was so insulting to the "but you don't have Crown experience" people. They've held the place hostage for a decade. Its why every single integration has been a disaster. Not that bought companies didn't bring some baggage as well. BS knew about some of the relations and figured it was fine because of different deopartments. That just shows they didn't know how dependent one position is on a entirely different group.

One of the mgrs had staff parties every weekend. If you didn't attend you were ostracized. Finance mgr had staffs husband remodeling their house. Really? It is just so ooo bad.

Always been who you know not what you know! The EMT set a great example of that!

I think people are daft. There was a mandate to put women in certain positions. The end result was a ton of managers who pushed their work to underlings.

With Southpointe gone everything you all talking about is gone as well. Do you really think that’s why they closed the office in Canonsburg? When I worked there my VP would not allow anyone in their group to be related.

Yes. It is now called building your network. I just attended a seminar (not by crown) that talked about this exact same thing.

That's what makes the current move even more frightening. Imagine trying to replace the current highly experienced and skilled individual contributors who keep this place operating with inexperienced unskilled unmanaged new hires. Anyone who remains will find it nearly impossible to produce results.

Yes it happens but most companies have serious nepotism and fraternization policies. Because it is so rampant across departments and functions at Crown - managers, project managers, supervisors, directors there's no one weeding out bad staff.

A newbie in accounting that needs property to do their job is screwed if acctg Mgr doesnt like them - acctg Mgr's sister runs property; Accounting kid promoted since Aunt is above mgr; sales clerk promoted because their manager's college room mate.

Real talent either quit or are simply left to do the work. It is so pervasive and has gone so many years that it's crippling.

Of course people hire and promote people they know. You know what you're getting that way.

...and please bear in mind that executive and senior management as a rule and a hedge against threat won't hire someone who

  1. knows more than they know.
  2. has more experience than they have. or
  3. disagrees with them in any way.

and given the low bar set by our CEO - well, you're seeing the results.

Lol did you just come out of college? Of course people promote or hire people they know. That’s why not only do you have to work hard but kiss tush and be personable.
