Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Colt ain't gonna pay $1.8 Billion for the EMEA Basketcase

Colt ain't gonna pay $1.8 Billion for the EMEA Basketcase because that figure of $1.8bn was based on the EMEA side of the house hitting its revenue and sales targets and they are way behind, so Colt are gonna get it at much less.

and even nif Lumen did get $1.8bn it'll only keep the lights on and fund Ashley and Kate's stupid jaunst for so long given the $34 BILLION debt pile. And that debt pile's servicing costs are gonna ramp up massively in this new higher for longer interest rate environment.

You 20 year olds couldn’t man a EBike, let alone a telecommunications company! Still in your parent’s basement? Please!

Total liabilities are now $35 billion which includes $20bn of loans/bonds/current debt but let's not kid ourselwves here - this company's liabilities is $35 BILLION and they cannot tgenerate enough cash to repay it when each tranche of debt rolls over at a much much higher rate than they have pais in the past. Lumen's business model doesn't work in a high interest rate environment - it only worked when money was almost free.

I repeat.
Every generation builds something.
Next generation always improves and makes it better.
The new generation builds something makes the old generation mind boggled.

I disagree with your analogy. We aren’t talking Pots lines. We created the internet and its infrastructure! We aren’t talking about using copper to facilitate phones but an actual backbone that is robust!

Every generation says they built it.
Every generation forward learn from the past generation mistakes and makes it better. Its been that way for 1000's of years.

You 20 year olds haven’t done anything in this industry! Us older folks built this network and without it you wouldn’t have Tik Tok to watch throughout your day today! You are clueless! Enjoy the next 20 years jumping from job to job only to come up short! You’re a number, and a cheap one at that!

“Hi Grandpa
I'm your Great grandson who showed you how to turn on the IPhone.
I work for Lumen now.”

Pssst, you’re the first generation to earn less than your parents. Enjoy the next 30 jobs you’ll have and never being able to retire.

“Us 20 years old will man the ship.
All you over the hill, over seasoned can jump ship. The high tech services are not for you.”

When did plug and play become high tech? I mean, if it’s too hard you just jep it for someone else right? Or refer to cable for “bad drop”. Don’t you wonder why you get paid so much less to do “high tech” jobs?

OP is looking at total liabilities: long term debt + current liabilities (salaries earned not paid, vendor payments, etc) + deferred credits/liabilities (benefit plan obligations, etc).

If all the newbie 20 somethings had some real world experience under their belts, had not been given participation trophies while growing up, and would quit drinking the kool-aid served by SLT who have never really turned a company around and worked it long term, or who've never even worked in telecom.... you'd realize that just because the band is still playing pretty happy songs, the ship is still sinking and about to go under.
