Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Is T-mobile replacing FTEs with contractors now?

I am being contacted by HCL recruiters for 6-12 month opportunities at T-Mobile now. Mostly Senior positions in engineering.

Yeah, even HCL is outsourcing fly by night companies so they don't have to pay benefits. So now it's working for [insert nonsense company] who bills your time to HCL who then bills your time to TMO. It's hilarious.

I'm embracing the corruption and incompetence though. I'm going to see how long they will keep paying me to do nothing. I do not need the job. It's just free money.

Don't let the stylish clothes fool you. Marcus is a conman and snake oil salesman only there for DEI purposes. What has he really done? Look at his background. His only credibility is his British accent and is just an actor playing a part. He's great at reading the script.

They're replacing them with the Blow Up dolls from the movie Airplane.

The orgs were bloated because none of the former sprint people were laid off when they shouldve been specifically when legacy Sprint cdma, And Sprint were shut down. What they did was to wait until they could get a nice crop of older workers and those workers with tenure to reduce cost.

‘and they (companies) don't have to endure Madonna's, individuals similar to you folks’

Someone is speaking the truth with inside knowledge. First, it was layoffs, and now I’ve been with the company for 20 years and didn’t do anything, but I am entitled. If you don’t like it and we’re not part of the layoffs, go find something else to do - there are more jobs, stop whining.

T-Mobile had an issue with bloated orgs. Which I hope people are realizing. As far as HCL is concerned, they are the worst and worthless third-party partner - thanks to Marcus, for messing the up and giving them the keys to ruin T-Mobile tech team. The guy was “Royally” clueless.

Ah, yes. The Sprint paradigm. Did it for years.
Contactor 1
Freelance 3
Contactor 2
Then...Employee.
Rinse, repeat.

Yes.

The best part about it is contractors get to work from home but the remaining FTEs will be forced to badge in 5 days a week while they work with these remote contractors.

No one has more disdain for their employees than Mike Sievert. Greedy, lying S-B. Thanks for ki-ling that Magenta Spirit.

Yes, bring in Opex (outsourced design engineers) rather than CapEx (Staff design engineers) as a way to reduce OpEx.

These guys are stuuuuupiiiiiid

Cheaper to pay contractors, even at a good rate per hour because they don't pay benefits & you can be let go at anytime - no notice, no layoff package to provide, no unemployment to pay. Plus the cost falls under a different column on the balance sheet, to make the company look like it's operating with less people then it really is

Probably
May pay more but no need to supplement benefits.
