Putting Eder and tech OVER ops in Sept was the 'tell'

Look back to the last Cordani email at the beginning of Sept. A couple of days later, we had Eder and Sanford emails. Operations NOW is under Technology and Eder. That should tell you that more tech focus = less humans in their plan. Plus Cigna has increased investment in tech in a big way over the last 3 years.

Operations is in shambles. No emails stating any type of reorganization. Honestly, they don't care. These were arbitrary choices of the managers of those to let go. Not performance based.

It infuriates me. Worse yet, if you have been a legacy ESI who came from Medco, you have been in this swirl of corporate BS since 2012 in constant worry for your job. Why stay? If going to another corporation it will be no different.

I love my coworkers. I'll stay and make them let me go. Scr** them.

Cue up the leaders grouping all of us together to say "We are family" but yet, they kick out members of "the family". Come on, we are not stupid and I am not sure what their family status and morals are, but that is not how we treat family.

I can tell you for a fact that managers are not always even informed of layoffs in their areas unless it's they're direct reports. As a manager I currently have zero information about another round of layoffs and I do genuinely care about my directs and would be shocked and devastated if I lost someone in another round.

If HR is under legal, they probably anticipate they’re going to get sued and Becky with the bad eyebrows wouldn’t have been able to deal with it.

I was told more are coming in November for tech/ IT by a manager, but since they’re trying to make Evernorth robust enough to compete with Optum (United’s data-selling arm); I don’t believe they will get rid of tech talent, it will be more operations and people who actually do the work.

“ And HR is under Legal now right?” Ironically, if you research where things are going with AI, HR will be one of the very first departments to be replaced with AI in all industries. Which is just kind of ironic and funny in and of itself, but even more so when you consider their role in things like this.

This is definitely the feel in my department. Shame on these managers that pretend that they genuinely care about us yet deny that more layoffs are coming and claim everything is fine. I don’t understand how they sleep at night knowing that in a few short weeks many more will become jobless and hopeless. I’d have more respect for them if they just said we don’t know if more layoffs are coming, instead they provide false hope.

The truth of it is Cigna doesn’t care that you were completely blindsided. They don’t care that they took away your ability to provide for your family. The top will crush as many of us as they need to in order to maintain their power and wealth.

And HR is under Legal now right?. automation and financial/legal risk reduction are #1. Employees and their well being are not a priority unless it lowers expenses. You are a cog in the machine. Profits go up and their bonuses go up when they eliminate cogs. Bosses were allegedly told to be more careful and to be nicer in order to silence employees and to increase your productivity. If you have information and are not sharing it then you are a brainwashed selfish person. Your director bosses allegedly have information. Are they sharing it? We know they were trained and informed based on other posts. You think they care about you? Think again.
