Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Safe departments? Or safe areas/states?

California was hit hard with the lay offs. The department I work for is directly affected by a lot of changes in California, like the star ratings and Medicaid losing multiple counties. I'm worried there will be more lay offs to my department when the new year comes. I am the head of household in my family and cannnnot lose my job lol. I'm thinking of applying for other departments (have to stay at centene because I was given tuition reimbursement). Any most likely safe states or departments? Willing to apply for a different state that takes remote workers across the US...

I applied for a job out of state before I was laid off and was quickly denied. An ex co-worker applied for an out of state job and was told that she would have to move there to be considered.

FYI part of the severance package says we wouldn’t need to pay back tuition reimbursement

Just a thought, but maybe foster care in one of those states who hold those contracts? Best of luck to you. I hope you don't get a notice.

I've heard that if you are adjustment trained for claims, you are safer than someone that is just trained to process COB since the adjustments team is pretty small but I have no idea how true that actually is. It sure feels like Centene is a sinking ship and nobody is "safe."

You are kidding yourself if you think anyone in this company regardless of what state they are in or LOB is safe.
