Is anyone else’s department having several employees go out on STD?

could be a budget thing, my area has asked us to take days off this month
Short term disability. It would not be made known if employees were going out with Se-----y transmitted diseases but rather on Short term disability. This made me chuckle!
Can you elaborate what STD means here ? Short term disability or the STD disease ? Can mean a whole different things
