Rumor has it more layoffs coming in September/ October and big re org in HR and other support areas.
"He said that last week (week of 2/22) was the last round of layoffs, at least for this very large group of employees. Take that as you will for other parts of the organization, but I am glad and appreciate that someone finally respects us enough to acknowledge the layoffs publicly for us to hear."
There was a similar messaging at the town hall for my area after the Oct layoffs. On one hand, it is nice to hear a person higher up acknowledge the situation. On the other hand, I wouldn't call it publicly discussing it when so many groups are siloed and may not hear of the news or be affected by it.
My two cents... until the company responds to questions from the press or releases its own press release about layoffs for people outside the company to see, it's not a public thing, and the company is being shady. I've seen two articles come up where it's mentioned employees on social media discussing their layoff but then, in the same breath, mentions the company refuses to comment.
At the Care Solutions Town Hall - how do they keep saying we are making all this money for the company, but then behind closed doors lay off a bunch of people? This happened at past town halls too at the end if last year. It doesn't take a child to figure out this doesn't add up. They also kept talking about how many employees ("talent") have been retained lately. Of course they didn't take into account the talent lost through involuntary terminations.
Care Solutions (Evernorth) town hall today. One of the panelists just confirmed waves of layoffs since last year. He said that last week (week of 2/22) was the last round of layoffs, at least for this very large group of employees. Take that as you will for other parts of the organization, but I am glad and appreciate that someone finally respects us enough to acknowledge the layoffs publicly for us to hear.
People on this website have been mentioning more layoffs expected on 2/29, though. Unclear if both regular employees or just contractors. Good luck to all...!
Laid off 2.22
sorry to hear, what department was this?
Can confirm 2/29 layoffs, I’m being let go as a contractor.
This approach has to stop. Do we have a union presence? If so, more employees should join. If not, we need to seek one out and vote on ability to leverage a union for better job stability and working conditions.
Confirmed by contacts in HR - there WILL be layoffs in January.
Do you know the exact date?
“Just came to know that there is a new option added as “Future of work” as a part of bunch of termination reasons on workday. So those who don’t comply with it, your manager has official reason now.”
This seems far fetched (or a scare tactic). Adherence to FOW policy will be looked at department wide before looking at individuals (our leaders have specifically said they aren’t looking at individual badge swipes currently). Based on my current site, it’s still a ghost town 3 days a week so they would be doing massive layoffs if this were the case. I’d imagine there would be a verbal or written warning of some kind before termination for this reason as well. Do your best to go in close to the required time. I could see them using this as the official cause if you’re already in troubled waters though…

Having to constantly worry about lay offs since October is insane.
I understand the bleak outlook. Hard to work for MA or even Cigna now knowing a sale or merger is a real potential. First, if you are a remote employee like me, it's hard to find other Cigna remote jobs now. Combine that with future potential layoffs... yes, it's hard to find the motivation to work hard.
sorry meant to say Feb 29th - OP
Wow you must be fun at parties 🤣 Just kidding. But buddy what makes you think of a dark picture like this?
- Potential Pandemic (not again :((()
- Big round of layoffs
Replying to “ think we won’t see any more mass layoffs this year.
February 29, 2024 (Thursday) is supposedly the next potential “big round” with intermittent layoffs every few weeks afterward.
2024 is going to be a rough ride in many ways. We will have the election and all the shenanigans that now go along with that, we have a budding pandemic, the economy is expected to be flat, inflation will continue to eat away at our pay, and Cigna’s revenue is expected to be flat while costs increase.
If you liked 2020, you’ll love 2024!”

2/29, not 2/24. And supposedly December is not out of the question.
