Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Costa Rica Site

Does anyone know why the Costa Rica employees have not received a letter? Is the site getting closed?

I believe that across central and South America, only Mexico and Brazil will survive. Maybe people in CR will be kept on via some sort of contract type arrangement

BC doesn’t have any offices in south or Central America.
They aren’t going to start a new trend unless there is a lot of VMware product selling in these regions and making $$$$s (which I doubt)
Expect 100% layoff from Costa Rica

CR office will get shut down. BC only needs a handful of VMW resources in CR. The majority will get severance or transition, however, BC has to stay compliant with country laws when making such drastic changes. CR gov't is not the fastest at getting things done, so it will take a bit longer for letters to get distributed. Use this time to find your next job and take control of your future, don't leave it up to BC, or else you will be disappointed for the most part. Good Luck.

Costa Rica has the same consultation process as Ireland. I suspect BC are active on this and an answer will be given next week. My personal belief is that it will go with all jobs gone as BC has south american offices already. Even looking at euc, for production contracts, all customers know their contracts are English only support which weakens the case for Costa Rica to remain. Prem and s360 was already emalgumated with production support teams before the acquisition.
