In Washington state, severence, even in 2 week distributions does not disqualify you for full severance concurrently. On the weeks you receive severence, you do have to indicate it on your weekly unemployment submission, but youll get the full check for the week.

It depends on how your severance is paid out. If it was one lump sum then it is it considered as part of your last paycheck. If paid out over the course of the next several weeks or months, then it is income for that time.

I can file for unemployment in either Kansas or Missouri as I have wages earned in the last year in both states. Kansas counts severance as income so you won't be able to qualify for unemployment until your severance runs out. I claimed in Missouri once I passed my separation date, and while PTO, pension and bonuses count as income for unemployment purposes, severance does not.
